It is so long as we don't have a half full squad of versatile players making people think we've got more cover than we really do. We've got 3 months where he has to play left wing because we don't really have any other option available there.

Devitt is more than enough cover imo. When Cam Stewart comes back we'l have three left wingers capable of doing full backs. Unless as we expect,Stewart goes to the right wing (pref)or up front.

Players for the left wing ? Brady, Dudgeon, Kilbane, Barmby, McLean. Is that enough for you. ?

Devitt isn't consistent enough. You want to be sure that the person coming in is going to do a job, they don't need to be at the same level as Brady, but they do need to be fairly consistent Championship performers. I'd also prefer to see Devitt loaned out to someone in L1 for regular games rather than sitting in our reserves behind Stewart, Brady, and Koren.

Stewart coming in back October/November is the change in 3 months.

Given how many central midfielders we have if Brady is going to play anywhere other than left wing it's going to be left back which means Dudgeon isn't an option to replace Brady there. Barmby can't last 90 minutes in the middle nevermind as a winger, and with Koren on the right we'd have an incredibly narrow and incredibly slow midfield, at 3/4 would be (McKenna and Evans in the middle?). If Kilbane is available he'll play left back instead of Brady moving there, and we've seen previously he doesn't have the legs for midfield. McLean could play there but given he's so far not been up to the job in his preferred position I'd be surprised if he turned out to be good enough in another position.

Brady may be able to play the other positions, but it's irrelevent with our current squad because there's nobody to replace him at left wing that we can rely on doing a good job for 90 minutes.

Good points Ricardo, but i feel to brand Devitt as inconsistent is very unfair,as he hasn't had that many chances.
Consistency will only come with a prolonged run out in the first team, and now we have Brady we know that Devitt
    isn't going to get that.

However,he should easily have enough to be back up to Brady.Which was my whole point. The idea with young player's is to bring them into the first team gradually, which has been the case with the likes of Devitt, and Tom Cairney.

I wouldn't want to send either out on loan now. In my opinion they are both far enough on in their education to be
used as first team squad players.

City have more than enough to cover left wing position. Kilbane is the best option for now and can be replaced by Barmby. But for now its irrelavant.

    Glad for that :emoticon-0108-speec

Yes i may have been out in the sun a little to long today. As per a previous post i would think that NP would use Dudgeon on the left wing if anything happened to Brady.

Kilbane should only be used in any position at times of extreme emergency

What I was saying though was that Brady wouldn't be used in other positions because there wasn't a suitable player to replace him at left wing that would justify it if we did.

It was suggested he could play left back, so you would need Dudgeon and Dawson to be out. Then your options are Brady at left back with Devitt/Kilbane/Barmby/McLean at left wing, or Kilbane at left back and Brady at left wing. If you've got an important game who are you going to play?

The other position suggested was central midfield, now we've got loads of options there McKenna, Evans, Harper, Barmby, Olofinjana, and Cairney (and I feel like I'm missing someone other than Koren who can't play there until Stewart is back). I don't think there's a Brady/somebody central pairing in that with Barmby/Kilbane/Devitt/McLean on the wing that I'd select ahead of playing Brady wide with two others in the middle.

When Stewart is back Brady's other positions become a consideration because we'll have 3 quality wide players (even if Koren plays it narrow). Stewart, Brady and Koren switching around in midfield will cause a lot of problems for opposition defences.
