I have just been given a MXQ digi box, my father has the same one. I was all excited at watching lots of new films and getting some free sport, but no matter what I do I cant seem to get anything regularly out of it. My father has take the box to his and it works fine. I have now moved it next to my router and despite this, I am lucky if I can get 1 film to work in about 40. It gives me lots of streams to try but they just keep coming up with Stream unplayable. I know the box is fine as I have managed to get 3 films to play but this is out of about 100 attempts at getting something. I am not technically minded but installation was straight forward and must be right as I have got something. So I was wondering which of you with the big brains out there can give me any idea why this box seems to be for want of a better word piss poor in mine and working elsewhere, before anyone says my signal strength is good. So please help as I want to watch some films.
I do not know much about this box but if it's playing Kodi it may need the latest update. To check which version you are running open Kodi, select System>System Info.At the bottom you will see Build: The new version is Kodi 16.0 Git :2016 ##### https://www.tvaddons.ag/update-kodi/ Edit........I take it you are on Wi Fi try hard wiring it and move it away from your router.Remember the box can overheat so free stand it. Edit 2.........which add-on are you using to try and watch the movies?
If it works fine at your Dads could well be your connection speed. I have had 1 of these for over a year and it works great. As previously stated make sure it has the latest update.
The two most obvious things to try are... 1) As has already been suggested - make sure the software's up to date. It appears to be running Kodi so also check all add-ons are also up to date (I think you can do this from "system", if it doesn't do it automatically anyway). Film add-ons need to frequently update their source URLs as they get taken down 2) A DNS problem with your ISP. Are you and your Dad using the same provider? I wouldn't trust any of the big ISPs not to be blocking known sources for films etc., although it could also be a temporary problem. You could try changing your DNS servers to opendns.com. I've done this anyway as they're more reliable and transparent than Virgin. DNS server 1: 208.67.222.222 DNS server 2: 208.67.220.220 I haven't used Kodi much but have found the links a bit flakey myself.
the problem Is I am totally thick when it comes to technology and all you have said makes no sense to me, I believe I am watching the films through Pheonix and have tried exodus and a few others with the same result. Nothing, tried updating the box through settings and said no new version.
Are you using BT? They are a pest, keep blocking. Re updating ,if you download the new Kodi version the add-ons will automatically update.
Try this add-on,it's excellent. It's a click and play,no selecting sources.See if it works for you if not we shall try again Link next post sorry forgot to add it
Just checked Phoenix and it did not play for me. I have manually updated it and it now works fine, films and sport added. To update..... Select add-ons from open screen Cursor ovr Phoenix,DO NOT SELECT Press C Add-on information Update A box will come up with TVADDONS.aat Add-on Repository Version 3.0.0 Click on it In the bottom right hand corner it will show Add-on updated. Hope this works for you.Use this to update your other add-ons.
