Go ahead, I'll bet you that we finish above Uniturd.

My forfeit will be to be made to watch a whole series of Death In Paradise, with you in a cameo role in every episode.

Saints fan just back from the match.

Intrigued to read the comments on this thread as we were humiliated by Liverpool in the first half even though we had a clear cut penalty denied by a referee who was poor all match. The game should have been dead and buried at the close of the first half and even the local radio commentary was suggesting as last as Manes' penalty miss in the second half that this would have a detrimental effect on moral.

What was interesting was that once Wanyama came one for us Southampton had a lot more fight about themselves. Romeu and Davis were superb in the second half and I think we just managed to click in the fashion that mirrored our earlier performances in the season as well as in 2014 / 15. In the end it was Liverpool who were being ridiculed. The whole match hinged on our midfield stamping authority on the match and retaining possession , something that we failed to do in the first half.

Liverpool seem a Jekyll and Hyde team. You destroyed us in the League Cup and you seemed similarly unplayable for the first half of this afternoon's game. It is clear that Klopp needs to re-build but this is now a common theme with Liverpool as this seems to happen every two-three seasons. I don't think you will ever with the EPL again unless you gain some consistency although the departure of Rodgers has at least seem the slide to mid-table mediocrity abated. The decline of player like Lallana is particularly sad as he was magnificent for Southampton. He now seemed ordinary and didn't display the industry of someone like Stephen Davis, probably the most under-rated midfielder in the country.

The introduction of your 12th man, Martin Skrtel obviously helped you out a lot as well <ok>

Basically nothing your team did mattered. The entire game was decided on Liverpool without Skrtel being winners, Liverpool with Skrtel being losers.

yeah, no arguments with that. Pelle was a different player when wanyama came on too. No complaints.

as an outsider though, what do you think of our defence and, defensively, our midfield?

You're the gobshite who wants to ignore what I said and only take a bet that's as asymmetrical as possible

How about a straight Everton v Liverpool points for the rest of the season?

Seriously Skrtel's first game back, and only a half at that, and we concede 3 goals?!

Now I'm not blaming Skrtel (for today, didn't see the game so I can't) but there does seem to be a pattern appearing. The guy is useless, should have been sold two years ago.

You said it was a 'piece of piss' and you would 'gladly back us'

Now it appears that that you wanted to pick the side in order for this confidence in 4th place to be valid, as you've got no confidence in Klopp's team selections

Nonsense. Your midfield were over-run in the second half. Liverpool had plenty of chances to seal a 3-0 lead in the first half. Tadic was hopeless this afternoon and the introduction of Wanyama was a game changer. Once the first goal went in, we were always going to be looking for another. Most of us would have settled for a draw but in the end the victory probably ensure this was the best home game of the season for us.

Why not just quote all of what I said. The meaning isn't difficult to understand. Nice swerve on the alternate bet though.

Not sure how you read that Tobes, but I thought that was in reply to me saying that we had an easier run-in and that we'd overhaul Uniturd. Maybe not though?

    Ignore him mate

He's coping with the hurt of chucking away a 2-0 lead and getting gubbed, by blaming the entire result on Skrtel.

In doing so it gives him comfort that they're still a top side let down by one player on the day, as opposed to them being tactically and technically undone by Soton in the 2nd half

Mostly agree, although i still thought we dominated for the first ten minutes of the second half. After that you're right - gutless flimsy.

No, he and I were talking about 4th place, not just United.

He's bottled it now I've called him out on it. #standard

    Donga

    Thanks for a sensible response.

In the first half we run us ragged. Loevren is hated at St Mary's and I think he is aware that he is always going to get the bird whenever he appears on the South coast because of the manner of his departure.

The local radio station commenting on the game was surprised that Henderson didn't feature but I think Clyne playing left back was equally surprising. I didn't really pay much attention to Skrtl but I would say that your goalkeeper does look like that he will concede goals. I grew up following football at the time Ray Clemence was your keeper and he seemed to get a lot of stick but I wish you had someone of his calibre in your squad now. Origi looked good and Sturridge looked lethal in the first half but , if anything, I would say the team performance by Liverpool lacked steel this afternoon.

I think Klopp will turn your fortunes around but I would admit that I feel that next season both Man Utd and Chelsea will turn things around more successfully than Liverpool.

No I suggested a hypothetical with two conditions which you proceeded to ignore

Still no comment on my alternate bet?

  19. Clyne's played LB a few times for us now, he's done well there too. Personally, I'd keep him RB and put a Flanno LB.

I didn't respond to your first comment because I didn't get to watch the game.

Where did I ever suggest that I'd fancy us to win more points than the RS in the remaining games?

Nothing more than a poor deflection from your bottle job that
