Even if he doesn't go to villa but if there's any truth in him touting himself for the job do you think the Allams will bin him anyway
I don't see what there is to be loyal to Bruce for. We live in the present, not the past. Thanks for not winning the FA Cup, losing in Europe to a ****ty Belgian club (in terms of size not the people, who were, to be fair, a mixed bag) and managing a 16th place Premier League finish. Fond memories. Given our squad, I feel another manager would've utilised the players we have much better and we would be in a stronger position. I really like Steve Bruce as a person, but there's no denying tactically he has much to learn and he's made a Horlicks of this season with a group of players much better than this league.
Honestly think its a load of paper talk tosh, the memory of the last ex- Birmingham city manager's(Alex McLeish) in charge at Villa is still too raw for Villa fan's for them to appoint a another ex-Birmingham city manager.
I regret posting that silly comparison comment. What was I thinking of, likening a brutal tyrannical dictator wishing death on his people to someone who is the President of Syria? Madness in retrospect. I don't know of any of 'my people' were killing Aborigines 200 years ago. Preliminary genealogical research suggests they were more likely working in the fields of Holderness or employed in the mills on the river Hull, rather than being sent to a penal colony to oppress your ancestors. Fair dinkum.
We are playing like we did last season, Bruce's biggest task in the summer was to find a system and tactics that enabled us to play a better and more attacking style of football. He has failed to do that, we lack an identity a style of play, we still play different formations different combinations. We are rudderless and when we get desperate just throw your strikers on (I use the term strikers loosely) He has failed to get the best out of Huddleston and Livermore in both the pl and championship We need a fresh approach, will the Allams have a last throw of the dice and try replace him, depends if there is a fallout between him and the Allams and how serious is the interest in potential buyers if we get back in the pl
This is it, we've had 3 good chances to kick on and put a gap between us and the rest this season and he's ****ed it up each time with either bad team selections or rubbush tactics. His desire to go through the "phases" every bloody game makes it so easy to play against us! The owners are going to be a problem when attracting a new manager...the only one I could think of in a a similar situation is Gary Rowett at Brum...he's done well this season with what he's got.
That bandied about but not true. In some definitely the case. In our fans it seems we have a huge band like that. didnt used to be the case.
I think the loyalty to Bruce was giving him this season anyway, without having delivered our top finish and 1st FAC Final I think he'd have been gone last summer. Last season we failed to do what we set out to do, and alright there were some unexpected issues (Snodgrass, Livermore, Ince as a gamble on stepping up) with the 6 midfielders we brought in to solve our problems from the previous year, but Diame (injury prone), Ramirez (seriously lacking fitness/sharpness after a long term injury), Ben Arfa (being a clown shoe) were predictable, and particularly with the latter we didn't seem to have anything in place to prevent the issues. Failing in those circumstances you'd look and say there was a lot of bad luck, but equally some of it was self inflicted so you should probably go, but in light of last year we'll give you a chance to put it right. This season, if we don't go up we've failed again (arguably even if we do the below par performances so far mean we've failed to meet standards even if objectives are met) and loyalty based on past success only goes so far. The available squad (ie considering injuries) is probably better than the one from last season, it is undeniably better than the one from our previous promotion. The team though is performing far below where it should be, and has been all season. We need changes in the summer, not just Bruce, players as well.
I'd love to get Pearson back if Bruce does go, but as the previous poster suggests, the owners will be a blocker to that.
Well why would I blame the players? If something is going wrong in the office and a team of people with exceptional talents is underachieving, do you look at the individuals or do you look to the person tasked with motivating and guiding them?
The word loyalty and SB don't sit well, ask the fans of Sheffield utd, Wigan and Palace if a decent offer comes in he'll be off he's done it before.
This is it really. He had a team with 3 very good players capped by England, three Scottish internationals (the better ones), a player who has undoubted quality (Diame), players who have played in the Champions League and various others who have the talent to play In the top division and he still can't get us walking the league. We've gone from being ruthless to failing to pick up wins against teams in the bottom half of the table. If this team really is better than last seasons, then how do you account for their poor performances?
Bruce motivational speech before the Boro game was telling the press how tired they all were and we just wanted to get the game out of the way before they could have a rest during the international break - the guys a total buffoon and the sooner he inflicts himself on someone else the better
Yes I picked up on that several weeks ago, going on about how tired the team is with two game's a week ( isn't it the same for Boro, Brighton and Burnley).
He complained and then didn't make any changes against Brighton! Then admitted his fault at not making changes.. and then didn't make any changes the following mid-week!
I don't think loyalty to Bruce comes into play at this point in time. We've had a good spell under him with ups and downs and it does feel like he's getting us as far as a he can. Even if we do go up, I don't see us becoming a stoke or a Swansea
Tiredness is an excuse not a reason, if you plant the tiredness seed in the players head it then becomes an excuse. Whilst burnley are winning tiredness never gets a mention
Maybe the Allams have refused him more cash to bring another striker in. Seems crazy that we all know we need more up front and nothing has been done about it. Just a guess of course.
