He played defensive mid, too. He was actually left back for the majority of our treble winning season as we had Markus Babbel at right back who was absolutely brilliant.

Houllier didn't think he was tall enough to play centre back IIRC. Funny thinking of that when you know what he know now about Carra at CB.

Just as likely if you go for 1-0 all the time.

Not at all, you're far more likely to have a more consistent season.

The "mark of champions" phrase that gets banded about is not "playing **** and winning" as many ppl seem to come out with, it's about grinding out results where your defensively strong and trying to break down a well organised opposition. In fact Arsenal and United at their best demonstrated just that.

Think Leicester will lose today. Still waiting for them to **** up, Palace are on an extremely bad run of form in the league and are due their win.

    Can't agree at all.
You can put the emphasis on scoring more than the opposition or on conceding fewer. Either way, if you don't get it right you come unstuck.
Whichever philosophy you have, it's about doing it well. I don't believe that either approach is more successful per se, it's down to how effective you are at it. The only difference is that one is exhilarating to watch and the other is dull as ****.
Because I have no interest at all in bragging rights or whatever other benefits can be gained by "winning at any cost", I'd prefer to be entertained.
It's why I got into football in the first place.
Occasionally, you have to grind out a result for the sake of progress in a difficult situation, but to make a playing philosophy of it is just wrong, in my opinion, and makes for boring football.

Iwobi just scored on his debut for 2-0 to le Arse ... I guess this makes Wenger a genius again and he's the new Henry ... good finish tbh

If the world relied on Everton to do anything Donald Trump would end up in charge. Oh wait ...
