It would actually mean more to allow them to meet earlier, because then the loser is denied multiple CL games rather than just losing or missing out on the final

The best lfc examples are ronnie Whelan and alonso.

The Lampards, barkleys and Allis all follow the same pattern of rare defensive quality and all run forward stuff.

If lfc had souness and Whelan today they'd be rated higher than mascherano and alonso.

No way is Scholes the best English midfielder over the last 20 years. Like Carra said before, if he was that good then why did Ferguson spend so much money on Veron to play his role. Then he bought Carrick who took over his role pretty much.

It's also why Arsenal, in particular, Wenger has failed in the last 10 years. It's not just the back 4 either, but a disciplined solid CM to protect them. Its a weird comparison anyway because Lampard, Alli & Barkley are attacking midfielders. If your attacking midfielder is constantly defending then you know you have problems. No one complains that Silva contributes nothing defensively off the ball, because that isn't what he's expected to do.

 

Scholes certainly is one of the best English midfielders ever. Quality on the ball.

As for the hatred of Guardiola, it's generally his style in my opinion. Bayern fans have been chanting for Jupp Heynckes a lot, as they miss an exciting style of play. Barcelona too, they are far more entertaining now than under Guardiola.
