IT's quite remarkable really that with the success he's had in the past Van Gaal is probably the worst manager in the PL right now.

If you think about Mourinho's experience with Chelsea last year, there's a case for saying that success breeds failure. Arrogance is an unappealing trait guaranteed to put peoples backs up, and since management is about getting the best out of people, a bit of humility can go a long way with succesful people.

Alex Ferguson always carried himself like he knew he was the boss and you better bloody well know it too, but at the same time I think he remained pretty down to earth and people appreciate that. Could probably say something similar about one Ronald Koeman, though I might be biased; still, you wouldn't want to cross him. Partly because he knoes he's human and doesn't walk around acting like the second coming.

Was interesting watching the footage in the tunnel before the game yesterday. When Emre Can walked round to join the queue of players waiting to walk out Klopp gave him a big hug as he joined. You saw Van Gaal looking at this exchange as if it were utterly alien. Said a lot with very little.

Really doesn't get the EPL. I thought he would be a good manager for United....on the basis that United were a good side and any decent manager would do well there....though not necessarily as well as the United fans would like. It seems like they are not a team and Van Gaal has no idea what his best team is.

Both United & Liverpool charged by Uefa with crowd disturbances and throwing of objects. United facing further charge of stairways blocked. Liverpool face further charges of late kick off, setting of fireworks and illicit chanting.

Interesting that United seem to have slipped an illicit chanting charge somehow...

I swear these draws are fixed, the big 4 all kept apart in the CL draw, Klopp going back to Dortmund. It makes you wonder if there is corruption in football or something <whistle>

No it isn't really, not if you look closely at his record. With the exception of Ajax, each team he managed at the top, were already champions when he joined. He usually won it with that same team and then the cracks appeared. The man is a dinosaur in coaching terms.

Ha! Actually he's more Van Allardyce. I don't think he's anywhere near as bad as that saggy faced twit, despite having a......err......saggy face.

Still won the European cup twice though didn't he? I still think it's crazy that no one would swap their manager for him in PL.

You don't rate Pep either then? <whistle>

I don't think Pep has had a team fall apart on him yet.

All I am saying is that there was a lot of excitement about him joining United, especially when Netherlands spanked Spain 5-1 at the World Cup. I thought that Dutch side was awful in that World Cup. They hit Spain on the break in that game and got a fantastic result, but that apart they were dull and poor.

Would you swap your manager for him? :)

No would I **** - but that's the point I'm making. I wasn't massively excited about him when he joined United as I had at the time looked through his record n saw what you mention. Also didn't rate that Dutch team much either. But you can't say that you honestly thought by over halfway into his second season that he would be the worst manager in the league. Worse than Newcastle, Watford, Bournemouth, Norwich etc.

Part of me thinks he might be doing it on purpose. He signed Schneiderlin & a World Cup wining captain in the SUmmer yet still persists with Fellaini?? <yikes>

Thinking about it I'm not sure why I brought Pep up as I think he will struggle next year personally and has made Bayern worse if anything.

Pep won the treble with Barca in his first season, the team he inherited finished 3rd in La Liga about 20 points behind Real Madrid. He also won a double promotion with Barca B, but due to rules they were unable to win promotion to La Liga.

Knew someone would jump on that! <laugh>

I was just taking the piss a little with that comment to be honest. He's not done great at Bayern though has he? Unless he wins the CL this year.
