This isn't a competition on who is the bigger fan. But you really do have to be completely tone deaf to sit 10000 miles away and tell the people *here* that they are making a fuss over nothing. I'd turn down the volume if I were you, you are reaching pretty high on the numpty scale at the moment. I'm another one to think that this is a germ of a good idea that has been spoiled forever by the crack-handed way the news has broken. I also think this is a scheme drawn up by people who don't attend matches regularly and understand the local fans. But honestly, given the history of poor communications, high handedness, lack of listening and unwillingness to properly engage with the fans, why are we so surprised at this PR disaster? Situation normal...
Fair few over there who think that moving seats isn't the end of the world either, and forgive me for offering an opinion on having to move seats at a sporting match. Again, I don't think that the sporting code or the team in question matters when discussing the notion of moving seats.
I think all you're doing in that post is showing you possibly have less grasp of the issues than those proposing it.
Pretty much everyone who has been moved in the KC has said that they were furious about it at first but over time they got over it. I'm sorry that people are sad that they have to watch the game from a different spot in the stadium but it's a petty reason to get so upset. I've already said I agree they should still be able to sit with the people they've always watched the game with so I'm really not sure what you're getting at.
I didn't realise you'd met everyone that's been affected. By far the bulk of people I know that were affected are still pissed off with the club, and the attitude of some fellow fans. As I said, you haven't grasped the issue.
You're joking, it's been done to death. Have a read of this and other boards, and you'll start to get an inkling. You need to forget all about comparing it to the Aussie experience though. They're very different beasts.
So when I said that I agree there's issues with the cost and not being able to sit with the people you want to, you just ignored that did you? Plenty of people in England seem to manage to go to games and sit in different seats every away day, and non-season ticket holders. Doesn't seem a different beast to me at all.
Insult ? Never. It's a word that describes someone who has little or zero understanding of why some ( I'd say many) are outraged at the scheme proposed. To blandly suggest they should get over it indicates a position the owners of this club hold with regard to long standing supporters and potential future supporters ( kids & their parents who pay for them to attend). It's not an insult. It's a useful descriptive word that describes your understanding of the issues that impact many. Should I post Ozzie's clip again ?
Nope, I didn't ignore it. I read it in conjunction with the spirit of your other posts. Did you ignore the bit about reading the comments on this board, and other social media sites?
People were always going to be massively pissed off when faced with the prospect of having to move seats, I was when it happened to me. For it to have any chance of being accepted, there had to be a significant benefit in them accepting the changes and I'm afraid currently that's not what they're being presented with.
It was the club's responsibility to get this announcement right. They briefed Burnsy and the asked him not to report it. Why? They briefed the fans 3 months later than when they originally told us they would and felt the need to keep it all super secret. This has been planned for many months, maybe even years, how can they get the announcement so wrong. I realise it's popular for some on here, mainly Allam superfans, to blame Burnsy for everything but he's a reporter and he reported the half baked news he was given. I'd be annoyed if he didn't tell us. As ever the club's communications have been piss poor.
The majority of which revolves around pricing issues.. which I've said I agree with. The people complaining about having to move seats and yet pay less I don't have much sympathy with. If Canada wants to call me clueless or what have you then so be it but I really think grown adults need to get a bit tougher skin if sitting in a different seat impacts them so greatly. For about the fourth time I'll repeat I agree with the aspect that they should be able to sit with the same people they sat with before if they want.
Which has absolutely nothing to do with people being forced out of seats they have sat in at home matches for years.
Well it does when those same people sit in different seats every second week.. really didn't realise people were so attached to a seat. It's a bit amusing to be honest.
OLM, any chance you have access to the demographic distribution of those who attend (concessions - both ends- kids & old timers, and the bulk group - "adults") ? Even if it's off the top of your head ?
