Either that or the fcker's on FSG payroll. I cannot believe how bad he is, to the point where I think it has to be deliberate. The guy is poison
I think he has been told by Woodward that he is out at the end of the season, so he's decided to make sure the club win nothing just to spite everyone.
He should be out now. What exact benefit is there to having LVG there or not having him there? They'd probably play better with no manager.
I still think the FA Cup game could save him, as long as we are still in one competition he will cling to the job like **** to a blanket.
The idiocy about all this is that United, the club, have to endure failure in every competition before we meet the conditions to sack him. It's like Woodward is the patron saint of stupidity. Just get rid.
Btw @Diego just to highlight the point we'll have lost to City before losing to West Ham in the Cup. It's like he's literally found a way to circumnavigate every possible disaster possible before he finally gets sacked or leaves. That's been the case all season. Worst of all we have a Chief Exec who's allowed him to do it. How Woodward can survive such incompetence is beyond me.
As a Southampton fan it is refreshing to see teams like West Ham and Leicester take command in the league this season but I think the team to keep an eye on is Spurs. We can look on at the management of Louis Van Gaal with amusement and growing up following football in the 1970's, there is now very much the feel the Man Utd are replicating the era of 1970's when Saints beat Utd in the F A Cup and manager like Ron Atkinson bought glamour in to your team yet found success alluding you even with the likes of Bryan Robson in the squad. Football is in a state of change at the moment and it is good to see the fortunes of the teams who have dominated football since the 1990's changing. I feel Liverpool will never dominate English football again and Arsenal look like being in a long, slow , terminal decline. The failings at City and Chelsea are probably blips but Man Utd need to do something quick before they slide in to the status of Liverpool who will never be EPL champions. Back in the 1990's, tonking Man Utd 6-3 and 3-1 at The Dell was a massive achievement as you were then not only the best team in the country but also the best club side this country has ever produced. These kinds of results were significant as Ferguson had created the likes of which football fans had never seen before. Even when teams were winning as the end of 90 minutes approached, their fans knew that Utd had it in the bag to come back and grab three points. At the moment, a result like our away win at Man Utd is, to be honest, not unexpected. Teams can go to Old Traffold and know that you can easily get the fans to turn against Van Gaal and then the job is half done. In my opinion, there is only one manager who is likely to turn your fortunes around and I believe you need to do everything possible to get Pochetino on board next season. The way he transformed Southampton was incredible and, as loved as he was, everyone soon forgot about Nigel Atkins. Now Poch is doing the same for Spurs. I really think he is the ideal choice and Utd need tp think about ditching Giggs or courting the likes of Mourniho. Poch knows the likes of Schneiderlin and Shaw and will get the best out of these players who are World Class players. I would also he would managed to coax the likes of Harry Kane to Old Traffold so that Rooney can be released. There isn't a great deal that needs to be added to your squad to make Man Utd feared again but Poch at the helm would get you playing the football you desire and bring you the trophies that have alluded you since Ferguson's retirement. The choice seems so obvious, I am staggered that he isn't a shoo in after Van Gaal's departure. This would stall the decline to the also comical levels of Utd's 1980's status with the demise of the fortunes of Arsenal and Liverpool having been ample warning as to why you directors need to act.
Unfortunately Woody won't be sacked because of his monumental talent in bringing in the money, something not even Gill could match. For that reason alone he won't ever be sacked. We do need to separate his function as bean-counter in chief from the footballing side of things. Now is the time - we need a director of football.
As much as I enjoyed last night on a lot of levels the bringing a full back on when you need 3 goals was a laugh out loud moment.
LvG completely missing from the 2016 China tour promo video - hint or oversight ...... http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-utd-van-gaal-exit-11083501
I think it's fair to say our finely oiled marketing machine rarely ever makes oversights in areas such as this. If only our manager could do the same...
He's definitely toast. There's no way they're trusting him with any more money. He's spent a fortune but doesn't trust most of his own signings.
Players LVG has brought through into the 1st team from the academy... Jess Lingard Tyler Blackett Saidy Janko Andreas Pereira Reece James Paddy McNair Tom Thorpe Cameron Borthwick-Jackson Donald Love Joe Riley Marcus Rashford Regan Poole Timothy Fosu-Mensah James Weir Much of it may have been forced through injuries but he didn't go out and try to replace those injuries with new buys. While he deserves criticism for a lot, that's one thing he should be applauded for. If only he could manage
You missed Varela and Will Keane off there I think the most pleasing part is that a high proportion of them look more than capable of doing a job when called on.
We bought Poole in summer, so I wouldn't count him as an academy graduate, but still good to see the number of players who have been given a chance. Tho' disagree to an extent that he didn't try to replace those players with buys - one of the main reasons Rashford and some of the defenders have gotten so much playing time is that Depay and Rojo have failed to live up to expectations. If those two had performed at the level we could have expected, Rashford, Blackett and McNair might not have gotten much of a look in.
Man Utd under Moyes (£60m spent) - 54 points in 32 games. Man Utd under LVG (£250m spent) - 53 points in 32 games.
