Bit of mud slinging on here !! I think there may be changes to this scheme I'll be surprised if it stays as is proposed at the moment
I can accept your point, to a point. The inference on here seems to be that there's more detail to come from the club, that could make things more palatable, and Burns was simply sending the partial message for the sake of his figures. As I posted earlier, and being a cynic, it's also possible that the club were happy for this version to leak out, so that the later version can be tweaked to sooth the outcry, and look more reasonable than it would have done had it been the first release. Poor analogy but...Telling people they're getting a 2% pay cut would cause uproar, but leak out it's 10% first and the 2% then doesn't seem so bad, and the company can claim they listened.
Everything I've seen/heard from the club is that they're genuinely trying to make this work to positively impact fans. Some will chuck the baby out with the bathwater before the full details, because of the assumption it's the Allams again sticking fingers up at the fans, but everything from the Teen Zone which the club brought in after FWG recommendations, to suggesting they'll reduce prices on a case-by-case basis shows that they're genuinely trying to engage and help the fans. I would be staggered if the biggest issues with this scheme are left intact for this season without some form of compensation/attempt to soften the impact. But. At the end of the day if people are complaining because they have to move seats, they really need to get over it. If it's a financial complaint, that's a different kettle of fish. I just think the club deserves some respect and patience while they try and sort this out. It was always going to have some kinks and teething issue, but it's a dramatic change to the ticketing structure. The amount of people screaming bloody murder at the club is a bit disheartening to be honest, especially when it's been emphasised this hasn't been handled by the Allams.
Yeah time will tell i suppose. Personally i sit in different seats each time i go but for some its more of a mini community thats as much as the game itself. Anyway Hull folk love a big old whinge it keeps em going.
I understand that people like sitting with the same people each game, which is why earlier I suggested implementing a 'GA' area for members might make sense, where you sit in different seats each time, but with the same people if you want. Also encourages people getting to the game earlier if they want the same seats each game - might help ease congestion at ticket gates closer to kick off.
Unreserved sections need to come back if in the Championship next season ( 50/50 chance at the minute) i think. I think we'll see a good portion disapear if they fly with it at least 3,000
'The Allams signed it off. It wasn't their brainchild' So someone put a gun against their head then? Or they couldn't work out this stuff for themselves and let someone else do it? Whose brainchild was Hull Tigers? Should we call ourselves Hull Flamingos this season? I always understood Assad Allem and his son to be very autocratic and unwilling to let anyone else have the remote.
What are you on about? It's been confirmed that the project was outsourced to this 'Strawberry' company. The Allams sign off on it as the owners of the club. No one put a gun to their head, but that doesn't mean they demanded that certain proposals be instated.
They signed it off = they agree with the content. Or should everyone be complaining to Strawberry? I hadn't realised they had expanded their graphics/printing/advertising portfolio to football ground admission price schemes. I thought no one told Assad how to run his business?
That's exactly what I said.. People ARE complaining about Strawberry, or have you missed the last few pages? Careful now, no need to stray into racist territories.
Why make it so complicated? Just two things are needed. A) At the end of this season, the prices go down 30% on last year (as an example). B) Instead of having to re-apply every year, give us your direct debit details and pay over 12 months on a rolling basis. No closing of stands, no moving of seats, no crying children, no grumpy grannies, no disgruntled disabled, no tempers from teenagers, and no bleating from the blind. I like to include everyone.
I would think the moving of seats is to pave the way at some point to move the Away fans to the top of the West Stand. Can't think of any other reason behind this.
As you point out, the potential for upset was very predictable. That being the case, surely the responsibility is with those implementing any changes to do that in a way that minimises the upset? Do you think they've done that? They've made a lot of work for themselves, and a lot of people unhappy.
In all honesty I think the club looked at the savings adults were making and thought that the net savings would mitigate any complaints, but haven't factored in parents with multiple kids, or other things. That may well have been an innocent oversight, and their efforts to suggest they'll reduce costs on a case-by-case basis seems the first step in fixing that. I appreciate a lot of people's noses have been put out of joint by this, but it's symptomatic of the internet age that so many are so furious already and the news broke what, three days ago? And we haven't had a comprehensive explanation of the program from the club yet, which may clear some/all issues up.
