^^^^ Winning against United, for 26 years the highlight of every Liverpool fan's season. Their new history
Stan nailed it. We barely score a single goal these days. To expect 3 against Liverpool is almost next to impossible! Maybe it would end 4-1 to United?
Yeah, but what is he supposed to say? That the tie is over? lol I said that I doubt that this is going to happen. But hey, this is football.
The trouble is, he lacks the credibility to come out with that. How can someone who's presided over a side that's struggled to score all season, keep a straight face talking about scoring 4 goals. I'd rather he simply said the tie isn't over and Manchester United is a club that's shown time and again that they can overcome any challenge. Ofcourse he won't say that because according to him, that Manchester United is finished
I hear your point there. It is absurd for any manager to suggest that a club of Man United size is finished. That statement alone should have gotten him fired. Personally, I lay the blame squarely on Woodward. LvG should have been gone in December after that inexcusable run. That would not happen at any of the prime clubs in Europe.
So, in the cold light of the day of the game, how do we see it panning out? I see it going one of two ways; a, Liverpool score within the first half hour and it's all academic anyway. b, we go two up early and then retreat back into our shells instead of going for any more, van Gaal instructing them to play for penalties. We do score a third but Liverpool score also. There you go, the prophet of doom. Either way we're out so I'll just be enjoying the beer to be honest.
c. The size of the occassion gets the better of our players and they decide to ignore LVG's carefully crafted and patented "defend, pass sideways and hope the ball magics itself into the opponent's net" gameplan. As a result, we comprehensively outplay Liverpool and take a 3-0 lead by half time, causing most of the Liverpool fans to leave. In the second half, Liverpool summon up the Spirit of Istanbul(TM) by diving to win a penalty and thus going through on away goals. I wonder what odds I'll get on that? Minimal beer for me as I'm going on a Brewdog tour tomorrow, so have to save myself for the fine ales to follow
The gaffer of Brewdog was on a programme at the weekend, what a cock he is. As for tonight, I can't see them not scoring tbh. I think you might win the game, but you won't get 4. You never know though, and the atmosphere should be crackling
I can't bring myself to watch it.. I can't see us winning. I also had a few ales last night so can't be arsed to drink anymore tonight.
Swarbs are you going to play in the next Mafia game (starting Monday)? You're the only one not signed up yet
