Cycling consultation sprints into action - 17/03/2016 Consultation with residents, sport clubs and service users has started on ambitious proposals to deliver the city's first purpose-built closed circuit cycle track. Hull Culture and Leisure Ltd, in partnership with British Cycling and Hull City Council, are developing plans for a 1km closed circuit cycling track and want to hear people's views as part of the design process. It is envisaged that the track will be built on land adjacent to Ennerdale Leisure Centre, and plans are still subject to securing funding and planning consent. Councillor Terry Geraghty, Hull City Council Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Culture and Leisure and Chair of Hull Culture and Leisure Limited, said: "Cycling in Hull has been on the increase in recent years due to the success of events such as the Tour De France Grande Depart. To build on this and to grow the sport in the city with young people, clubs, groups and adults, the next stage is to make plans for a state-of-the-art cycling facility. "A new cycling circuit would be a fantastic community asset that would enable Hull Culture and Leisure to deliver a wide range of cycling activities to benefit everyone." People have until Sunday 8 May to give their thoughts on the outlined proposals via online consultation at www.hullcc.gov.uk/consultations http://www.hullcc.gov.uk/portal/pag...h=Mar-16&p_page_number=1&content=pressrelease
Great news if it goes ahead. The large number of cycling clubs in and around Hull that could use this would make it a success. Also get the kids in early to use it. I think the nearest closed ciruit is in York. I'd love a go on a closed circuit.
Is the Cycle Speedway track still there that was close to Hessle foreshore? Or the BMX track at Costello? (Yes I've been away from Hull for a while LOL)
Hull Cycle Speedway still race at the track in Hessle, I don't think the BMX thing at Costello is still there. please log in to view this image
Residents weren't keen... http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/15km...s-opposition/story-20386451-detail/story.html

There's plenty of room on the roads, as most of the lazy car drivers are parked on the path. Anyway, it's an excuse to.post this. please log in to view this image
On a cycling theme I've just met the brownlie brothers in knaresbough,i was in The black mulberry, it's a cafe by the river, nice lads, they were out cycle training, they had a spaniard and a german lad with them, I nearly collapsed with laughter when Jonathan ordered a Yorkshire scallywag and tea, he asked me why I was laughing, I said its a Yorkshire rascal...they all fell about the place. The one thing that struck me was how ****ing skinny they are, not an ounce of fat on either of them.
I was just about to go off on one about the irresponsibility of cyclists dragging their dogs with them. I then reread it and realised you typed Spaniard. I'll get me coat.
Ha ha, I had to ask my other half how to spell it.... She said after they left, are they wearing nappies, I choked on my rascal, told her they are gel to stop the're arses from getting too sore....
It wasn't your spelling, it was my ability to read! "I choked on my Rascal" has to be a brilliant quote too.
I hope this cycling trail does not have too many restrictions like those found in some other countries: please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
