This has been annoying the crap out of me for ages so i\ll get it off my chest now. I'm totally hacked off with bloody stupid statements from the press, here's a couple: Alan Pardew in line to be next England Manager! Qualification for this? Palace won a few games at the beginning of the season! Rashford in Hodgson's plans for a place in Englands Euro squad! Qualification for this? He's played a couple of games for Man U & scored 4 goals! Pundits........Fluffing hell where do you start? Watched them discussing Benteke's dive for a penalty last week, it was clearly an accidental "tap" on his ankle and down he went. There were two ex professional footballers telling us that it was definitely a penalty, "as soon as he felt a touch he's entitled to go down"! NO HE BLOODY WELL ISNT, it has to be by the laws of the game DELIBERATE! It wasn't, the ref was conned or like the two ex players does not understand the rules of the game. It's the same with handball, it has to be deliberate, nothing more nothing less. These people think that because they're on the telly they can make up their own rules. The smug faced Shearer is the worst culprit, I watch MoTD with the sound off now or record it so I can fast forward through the mindless prattling they come out with. Oh yes and another thing, why do some players place the ball as near to the outside of the quadrant when they have a corner, what possible benefit can be gained from that. Its just inbred cheating or bending the rules just because they can. Right off to get a pint now!
Annnnnnnd.....breathe! I think we've touched on this before and there are still loads of questions - and precious few answers. Why do channels persist in using ass holes like Lawrenson, Savage, Owen, Redknapp as summarisers / studio guests? You know EXACTLY what you're going to get, regardless. Same ****e churned out every single broadcast they do, just names changed dependent on who's playing. I could mention Danny Mills and Chris Sutton at this point, who as ex Canaries, you'd have thought might have a bit of a soft spot for the club? Quite the opposite - slag off and lambast us at every opportunity. Roll on the cricket season!
Two excellent posts and I look forward to reading KIO's contribution!!!! Not forgetting the opening of the transfer window!!!!
Disagree about Sutton Cromer, but let's face it, we haven't given anyone much lately to defend us with. Dion always sticks up for us bless him!
Yes you're right Cromer, it was probably me before. It just winds the hell out of me, it's getting to the point where cheating players are refereeing the game and the officials are just going along with it!
ILD bor. Re corner placing. The corner is legal if part of the ball is over the white line, like a goal, all the ball has to cross the line to score. As long as part of the ball is over the corner quadrant it is ok.
But many times the Prima Donas, who believe they are beyond reproach, still manage to place the entire of the ball outside the arc. They are gaining about an inch advantage but they still do it as it is ingrained in their make up to cheat. And don't get me started on.........
I understand that, I'm not dense, but my point is "what benefit" is gained by gaining 2"???? If they can't get the ball into the penalty box without trying to gain that advantage then Im staggered. We're down to this blade of grass mentality, like the offside rule, your finger can be offside!!!
To me the National side is so poor that any younger player that shows any promise at all is instantly linked. Remember the clamber for Janazaj to declare himself English and Zaha being so overhyped. Who remembers Marvin Sordell? Honestly, the sporting press is a complete joke. Don't even bother reading it anymore.
Agree with all of the comments on pundits mentioned. I've just watched the MotD highlights again and saw again just how one-sided the comments are. One minute our defenders are backing off in the face of Aguero and the next Klose is criticsed for stopping him on the edge of the area and giving away a free-kick. Similarly when Aguero got the ball in the penalty area and Klose stayed with him and took the ball off him to clear (Aguero was 'unlucky' on that occasion). Then there was Aguero's 'brilliant' run down the right flank to the edge of the area when O'Neil forced him off the ball and then allowed it to go out for a goal kick. My one positive, pundit-wise, is for Jermaine Jenas, who seems to often have very positive things to say about us. Refreshing.
Why is Jermain Jenas a pundit? He only looks about 20, did he suffer a career ending injury? I like him btw
As good a place to put this as any as we're moaning about players. Those who score a goal, then whip off their shirts whilst running more than they have the whole game, and getting a senseless booking in the process. Utter pricks. It's what you're paid to do you morons. I remember Aguero doing it after he scored the winner in that amazing game that won the league. I can understand the emotions involved in that, but other than that, complete nobs.
Hoddle ****ed me off with his comments in the Chelsea game. I cant remember his exact words as I was too busy shouting back at him through the TV, but he blamed our awful defending for Costa goal rather than the fact that we had actually played a good offside line and the officials were too blind too see it
I tend to find a stream with Portuguese commentary if I can. It helps soothe the nerves when i hear "Klose, tranquilimento" instead of Danny Mills bleating on as if the whole of Norwich has keyed his car everyday since he was born - even his Tonka Truck got fooked by us so it sounds.. I usually do the ironing for the week ahead as I'm watching (I know) and this too helps with my concentration, although I burned a hole in the wife's favourite blouse against Man City as it was Mills I had to listen to and not the dulcet tones of some unknown (to me) Portuguese ex-pro.
Rio Ferdinand has picked: Messi, Neymar, Ronaldo and Bale in his world 5 a side team. I wonder how long it took him to come up with that astonishing revelation? Pratt!!!!!
