    3.35 Galway

    Askthemaster 16/1

This one looks very interesting to me today. Firstly, I think it is very important to note that he was the only horse in this race that had an entry in the Galway Hurdle tomorrow, which indicates that connections think he is likely to run a big race at the festival. 2 starts ago, this 11 year old trainer by Robert Tyner produced a career best effort when finishing 2nd in the Grand Annual behind Oisea de Nuit at a big price. That effort was over fences and although they appear to be his best obstacles, I think the fact he is 21lb lower than this rating is more than enough compensation. He has only had 3 runs over hurdles in his career- 1 win and an unplaced in 2006 and a mediocre effort at Leopardstown in February. I think 16/1 is far to big given the huge difference in his ratings and I believe given the entry he held for tomorrow shows his yard believe this too. Bit of money around already and fingers crossed he can make a successful transition to the smaller obstacles

Danbo: You are always getting assured mate :emoticon-0100-smile Best of luck with Broctune, the drop of a furlong will deffo be in his favour.

Oddy: What did you think of the trends then mate? 2 bets, winner at 7s and 2nd at an early 14s, nice day indeed, just way i hadn't bothered with the Cumani one, may have been tempted by Pricewise i think!

Today there are a couple that 'hit' them all, i have however only taken the one in the first race and if i am honest i think it may struggle to get home but hey ho got to follow them.

Weakest of all days today at the Sussex Downs apart from the Big Race but here goes:

200: Cosimo de Medici may have been laid out for this by the very shrewd Hughie Morrison and Richard Hughes again takes the ride which is a bonus!

235: Very tricky indeed but Elkhart may have the edge over Hannons.

345: Very hard race indeed but money for Four Nations who is locally trained.

420: I like the look of Ice Missile at 22s EW.
455: Best bet of the day could be Decent Fella who did not quite get home over the mile LTO but loves this 7F trip.
535: Totheendoftheearth could be another Sylvester Kirk winner.

Be Lucky all and Frankel to win by less than 2 lengths at 5/2 with Billys :emoticon-0100-smile

  12. Afternoon guys and thanks for the daily thread and your usual well presented write ups Topclass, hopefully today produces some decent returns for one and all on the forum. My selections for the day are as as follows, however, the one standout bet for me is CANFORD CLIFFS 13/8 who i think will take the scalp of the unbeaten FRANKEL today, i just feel that he has too much in the bank than FRANKEL who will run out of steam in the final furlong and CANFORD CLIFFS will be going away from him at the end.

    GOODWOOD

2.00 - Analysis is that the race is generally won by 4 and 5YO, and no winner has been older than 7 years which eliminates no fewer than 25% of the field. My two against the field here today are both well handicapped and have been racing with todays race in mind they are DAZINSKI 18/1 EW and L FRANK BAUM 40/1 EW who has been unlucky on his last two races to be in very competitive fields, i dont think there is anything in the field with the same quality as SWINGKEEL and KEYS and he could go close at a very nice price.

2.35 Richard Hannon is heavy handed in this race, however, my selection is the Clive Cox trained LETHAL FORCE 5/1 LTO in Group 2 Company he found 3 horse too good for him when running on over 6f when getting to within 1 1/2l of the very useful POWER and ROMAN SOLDIER.

3.10 CANFORD CLIFFS 13/8 NAP for me he simply has too much in his locker for the types on show here today, his turn of toe should be too much for the extremley talented FRANKEL and i cant see how people are taking bets on how far FRANKEL will beat CANFORD CLIFFS today let alone beat him at all, at his best CC is at least 1 second quicker than FRANKEL over this distance and i dont see how he can be beaten, but then again 3YO generally have a great record in this race and horse racing can be a funny old game, and with a 4 runner race there all in with a shout!

3.45 ARCH FIRE 7/1 a very progressive type who looked all at sea and wel lbeaten LTO over 10, but found extra heading into the final furlong and ran on very well, the extra 2f today will suit and with Sir MIcahel Stoute having a good record in this race and his stable hitting form, with a good run this one will go close.

4.20 ZENELLA 12/1 EW been racing in Class 1 Company and wasnt disgraced when a close 6th, prior to that she won well when beating the Richard Hannon hotshot Royal Exchange over 8f when making all and quicking to win unchallemged.

5.30 BAHATI 50/1slowly but surely dropping down the ratings and runs off a cracking mark here today, loves the going, drawn well and might just go in at a very nice price.

Odddy I disagree about RDLP being a group 3 horse, when at his best he is a very good horse :)

Totally agree with that comment. Though i don't think he's quite good enough to win today he;s definitely earned the right to compete in a group 1.

2.00 Goodwood - LIBERATE 6/1 (BOG) - Lightly raced in recent years having only just returned from a 648 day layoff in March. He ran fairly over hurdles that day and has since proved he needed that outing by picking up a handicap hurdle and winning a novice chase in two subsequent starts. At his best Liberate was a very smart performer over hurdles. He was also a nice sort on the flat when with Sir Mark Prescott but his most noticeable performances have been over in the NH scene. He was runner up to Katchit in the triumph hurdle and also finished a fair 5th at Aintree behind Tidal Bay. Another fine performance was when finishing 2nd to Poquelin at Kempton. Connections have been patient with him and it seems they have him back in some good form. A mark of 84 isn't beyond him if back to anything near his best and with Spencer booked he is my idea of the winner in the opener.

Although he was a G1 winning 2YO and had very good form behind New Approach his more recent runs show that he is not a G1 animal. He was soundly beaten in the Queen Anne, and won only a G3 and Listed race last season. G3 is his level, maybe G2 at a stretch. He will be the first one beat today. But I am still glad he is there.

Fair enough they may have been weak but he was a duel group 1 winner last season and finished 2nd in a g1 also, agreed he will be beaten today but I think Frankie might try and make the running
