The funniest thing was some of the Man Utd fans claiming that they were only reaction to provocation from Liverpool fans. As if "We've won it 5 times, in Istanbul" and "Fergie's right, your fans are ****e" deserve the response "The S*n was right..." and "Without killing anyone". They are so unimaginative that their instinctive response to any sort of chant directed at them is to instantly turn to the horrible tragedies of Hillsborough & Heysel to try and score points. The media, fans & anyone else can claim that its tit for tat but we all know that it isn't and that's all that matters.

 

Well the Fail is nailing its colours to the mast and I'm sure they'll be followed by The Manc and BBC Salford before the game:

I know our players will have nerves and the thought in the back of their minds that it should already be over. I know I have. But I hope Jurgen has the sense to pin these articles on the dressing room billboard so that the squad know that they're up against the whole of the English media, and to mine that sense of us-agaimst-the-machine when the going gets really tough.

No matter what they do, go hell for leather at them. We won't keep a clean sheet, but we can certainly score a goal or two. ****in' have it, flat-capped media-mafia.

On the inside he will know as much, but he certainly won't voice that opinion

 

He'll know the fans aren't happy but he won't accept his departure is inevitable. He'll put himself under pressure to improve so that he keeps his job. Unless he's totally deluded and thinks the fans don't matter and he's doing a good enough job anyway.

City are unlikely to go much further unless they draw Wolfsburg or Benfica and i'm not convinced they'd get past them either.
One of Pool/Utd will join them in the pots for the next rounds.

Italy would really need Juve to get past Bayern and win it (and Lazio to match our teams in the EL) to catch us.

 

I'd be more interested in how england can catch germany here.

realistically with the amount of cash at hand the fact that in general the german sides are superior to us is a disgrace.

With bayern going to be in SF most every year barring a bad draw (and they could muck up v juve) english clubs need to get thier collective fingers out and win more games.

 

I don't think he's like paul lambert who admitted releif when he was sacked..

I think van gaal feels things are going ok, not brilliant but ok.. and he thinks he's delivering on youth and he is about to deliver a europa league and fa cup win as well as 4th.

our only serbs are mr markovic who's a wuss and mr grujic who's not available to speak to ref yet.

 

I know he's a Croat and that they have a history of antagonism with Serbs. That's why I said set him on him, not have a nice quiet word with him.

Philippe Coutinho is determined to end his wait for a first goal against Manchester United when Liverpool walk out at Old Trafford in the Europa League tomorrow night.
The Brazilian playmaker went agonisingly close to netting in the Reds' 2-0 first-leg triumph last week but he failed to turn home Daniel Sturridge's cross-shot as David de Gea clawed the ball to safety.
It was the fifth time Coutinho has faced Liverpool's arch rivals since arriving from Inter Milan three years ago and he has yet to get off the mark against them.
Coutinho wants to put that right at Old Trafford.
“It would mean a lot,” he said.
“Whenever we score a goal it is very good. Last week I was close but ended up missing.
“I have to continue working to be able to score goals and, of course, to score a goal in a game like this, in the Europa League, would be a very special moment.”

 

so coutinho is not going to pass all night and will be shooting from every where... yeah we really need that.
