Its a fair point, essentially at present high adult prices subsidise lower prices for children. Clubs work out a value per seat, then price accordingly, the shortfall from practically giving kids passes away is compensated by adults paying more than the average value per seat. Under the new system everyone pays their own way, it will end up costing those with multiple kids more but a single adult a lot less. For those saying its unfair on those with kids, how is it fair under the current system that a single adult pays more so your kids can attend for less?
I'm in two minds about this. I see it's benefits. Adults without kids will make massive savings. On a personal level though it probably means I'll be going alone or not at all next season. I paid £531 for my South Stand season ticket (plus 3 free cup games). My two nephews paid £32 I think. So between us £595 for 26 games. Next season we will each pay £252 (we are already in the cheapest section). So £756. An extra £161. For 19 or 23 games. I don't pay for my nephews' tickets, their parents do. I'm just the free taxi/babysitter. So on a personal note I'm £279 better off. Whoop. The kids tickets go from £32 to £252. An increase of £220 (687.5%). They won't pay that. So I'd have to go on my own. Which would decrease my saving as I (rightly) wouldn't be able to sit in the family section without kids.
Is that figure a guess? If not, they should also know who they are & deal with them. If it is a an estimation they should not use it as an argument for this idiotic change. The argument appears to read - it looks like 15-20 out of every 100 children entering the ground are adults. Lets raise the prices for all the children, whatever their age. It's a bollocks excuse & they should have been told as much.
Because you catch 'em young and you catch them for life. It's a dog dinner. Why not simply cut match day prices at the turnstiles ?
The problem is that today's kids are tomorrow's adults. If we don't get them hooked now they'll drift off and do other things. In 10 years time the stadium will be empty!
My original calculation was slightly out. If you sit behind the goal in the South Stand it'll cost £324 to watch Hull City. That's £972 for an adult and 2 children.
I was playing devils advocate there. In my personal opinion we should be getting as many kids in as possible and this certainly isn't the way to do it. I would stipulate that discounted kids passes could only be bought with an adult pass, I would then have dedicated turnstiles for kids passes which could easily be monitored by a steward. That way no adult can buy a kids pass on the cheap, they'd have to pay for an adult pass as well and no adult would get away with using a kids pass on the turnstile.
I'm not convinced separating a youngster from their carer amongst 20,000 people would go down too well in some quarters. The queues are unlikely to flow at the same rate.
Miss out on promotion and keep playing the crap City are serving up just now and there will be plenty of empty seats next season, new scheme or not.
i think i should have option of staying in the seats that i have been sat in since 18/12/02? a joke been forced out.
Fair point. Perhaps have one for adults with kids, the kids pass is attached to the adults pass, they scan one barcode to let the kid in then another to let themselves in. Would still be easy to monitor as it would be pretty obvious if two adults went through one after the other. It would also speed up the other turnstiles having adult only ones.
the classic quote of the day was the club saying " they have no database of who's been loyal & longstanding fans! But if you stick with us we'll reward your loyalty from now on! " so how come they manage to send out our same season pass renewals every year??? #joke
I think, and someone will be along shortly with the numbers, the three of you are going to be well shafted.
Is the whole of the South Stand going to be a family stand or just the bits where it is now? Doesn't make it clear really!
It's as clear as mud!! I assume the black zones in the South Stand are where they'll be encouraging West Upper people to sit. This has pissed me off as I sit in the South Stand, I have done since we moved to the KC and I like my seat.
