Not sure if you're being sarcastic, but I don't think that was a straight red. Bit soft like.

 

Never a sending off. It was a freekick no booking. That's what I would have given anyway.

 

I wouldn't have been happy if that was one of our lads got sent off for that. I guess Atkinson read it as an intentional raking of his studs but it was just a little kick, nothing bad.

At the time in the heat of the moment I probably did too but look at it, it's not even a yellow is it.

 

Definitely not a yellow straight red - studs up dangerous challenge as the commentator on the video says. If it was such a travesty of justice did Newcastle appeal (and win the appeal)?

 

Not that soft - have seen softer (Wes Brown v Stoke) But then again - Tiote punched Cattermole in the head 4 yards in front of the ref and we never even got aq free kick so I guess you could say it evens itself out!
