Just a point without rancour, but there has been six Labour prime ministers since 1945. covering about twenty five years out of seventy.
Not shown in that stat though is the element of the southern constituencies are the ones that influence election results the most. There is also the press and their influence on voters.
11,000 commit suicide under Labour in a year... 12,000 commit suicide under Tory in a year... THE CUTS!!! For **** sake.
installed a audio system in the restaurant at the bottom yonks ago . sure someone jumped off one morning, one of the workers was saying canny height like got no chance .. could think of better ways to go
Scarborough's Valley Bridge used to be very popular for suicides - and certain because it's dry land underneath. Now, they have a net underneath so you have time to learn the regret stage but not hit the bottom. They tend not to do it again. It would be difficult to do on a cliff like Marsden, but would be possible on any bridge. But why bother? If you stop them from jumping off the bridge, they'll simply go to Marsden or somewhere similar. If you walk from Redcar down to Flamborough Head there must be two hundred lethal places to jump from, and Co. Durham is no different. We live on a high coast line, and there's not a damn thing you can do about that. It's an awful thing to say, I know, but if they're going to jump. let them.
Or perhaps it tells you the press care about sales more than anything and are influenced by a predominantly right wing population?
please log in to view this image Chicken and egg comes to mind. However, I do like to believe that the majority of people in this country believe in a fairer more socially just society. which are exactly the qualities that are not associated with the Tories. This is why I believe it is the constant bombardment of the powerful right wing media that have enabled the party of the rich to win elections..
I think you need to spend more time away from the north east mate. It's easy to see what you want to see when you're surrounded by like-mind souls. The south is avowedly right, give or take a few areas. The press has absolutely nothing to do with it. Conservatism, with a small c, is just a way of life down here. From the rural historically blue regions of the southwest, southeast, East Midlands, to the Tory heartlands inside the M25. It's all blue, give or take the odd splash of yellow or red.
Nothing to do with geography, but the support of a party who are naturally supportive of the rich at the expense of the poor. This is something that I can never comprehend, particularly those Tories who also profess to have Christian values.
To many ****ing stupid gifs on here now and not much sense. Anyway to the bold bit, I'm a bit older than you mate, about 6 years so I have lived through a lot of the **** of the early 70's, the initial Europe debate and vote, the lot as a young man of 18 with a baby and one on the way. You can never get nearer to my families Labour policies and beliefs and some of my ex-father-in-laws labour stuff was even greater, he is a very good friend of Tony Blair and the ex-president of the COSHE union, if I have spelt that right. So lets look at me, £50 a week carers allowance for the past 7 years looking after Lorraine from a fortune a year as a pro photographer, Lorraine gets the full whack severe disability allowances and now my savings and hers have gone, we manage just. But you know what mate, I would vote Tory tomorrow as there is no longer an opposition that supports the great workers this Country created, just a self styled sack of **** that leads a party that would have let this country be like Germany if they had been in power. Cameron will never be remembered in years to come but Corbyn will as the man destroyed the labour party.. Hope you are well mate, the best to you and yours..
It's nothing to do with religion. The south just doesn't haven't the socialist roots of the north mate. There are the odd spots, but on the whole, it's all blue. And it's nowt to do with supporting a party of the rich. Most people around where I live aren't rich. Labour just isn't popular down here. Get away from the idealism, the ideology, and just look at the people down here. They're just not red by nature.
As a member of the Labour Party I am fighting from within to get Corbyn ousted from being leader, and if I had may way would be thrown out of the party all together..We need a credible opposition to get this uncaring greedy rabble out of government, but it will never happen whilst Corbyn and his politics are in charge..
A more socially just society is exactly the qualities that are not associated with government, period. Probably the only two parties who are genuinely believed in these days are UKIP and SNP The fact is, Britain is becoming increasingly government sceptic. And that doesn't favour either blue or red long-term.
