So, I have to say, it's been two days now since the events of Sunday. For those that were involved and participated in, in any shape or form, we have to be immensely proud of. I think we showed the country what it meant to: 1. What it means to be a football supporter 2. What it means to stand up for your club We really took the protest to the maniacal megalomaniac owners and senior management of the club with the message of ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. The question now, what next? Surely we cannot let up, that we need to pressure them each day even more and more and more. Things cannot fizzle out.
more beach balls for me. the halt in play will be increasingly embarrassing if it continues and sooner or later the club will be fined. this will annoy the 'mare more than anything as she cant stop it.
Just as I posted this, I got an email from the CASTrust, which have issued a statement to Roland Duchâtelet saying effectively, we've offered to meet several times, so if you want to meet us, we're here. Guess that if he does not, as they've been given a two week timeline, they'll leak that to the press that their statement is effectively crap. Also, has anyone else seen: http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foo...s-during-win-over-middlesbrough-a3203661.html The FA open investigation after Charlton fans force several stoppages during win over Middlesbrough
F.A. Investigation, eh? Now that's very encouraging. Our so-called CEO won't be able to laugh that one off!
Have the really offered to meet again with another self imposed deadline? **** pushing the meet. Keep going with the protests and wait for him to come with his tail between his legs. He's done a pretty crappy PR video, he won't be able to ''get away'' with another one of those.
After a short break, they're back to asking for dialogue. Again. Full marks for perseverance. At least the recent Club Statement about working with the fans will be shown up to be empty spin.
Good response from CARD saying they asked various times to meet, and were either fobbed off, or arrived at a meeting where Jonny Jackson was strangely present. Murray also promised dialogue in january without actually agreeing to meet anyone. Sod it, why should we talk. They are a cancer, and besides, there is little point in talking while Obergruppenfuhrer Meire is still in her post, and I don't see Fuhrer Duchatalet sacking his trusty lieutenant. Let's just buy more beachballs.
most of the meetings that have happened have had stooges in. it's not a meeting with fans if half the fans are employees. worst thing in the world is an idiot who thinks they're clever. we have one as owner and another running the club day to day.
The problem is that when a deadline expires - that should be it. Why will RD feel pushed for the conversation now if he knows the same olive branch will be offered in April? He's already taken the unprecedented step of coming to the Valley to record a video. So he's felt some pressure somewhere - rather than take it off him, keep it going. I'm not saying my suggestion is right - but this continued attempt of dialogue is wrong. Gives RD the power back.
Perhaps the opposite should now happen, fans refuse any dialogue with the Club until some action is taken by the Douche to change things and a start would be to remove the Bitch from her position as CEO. CAST should withdraw the offer for talks and the members of the Fans Forum should refuse to attend any further meetings or at least just send Nick on his own
The FA investigation will keep the pressure going nicely. I'm not too keen on the whistles, but the beach balls were marvellous, and we'll surely see more.
I did think the beach balls were good. No doubt the investigation will be about the whistles, as it seemed that the Evening Standarf article was situated around that. If we refuse dialogue now, it'll go against us I fear. We're mere mortals, compared to their PR machine. We should say, "we'll talk, under these conditions." The first will have to be; Removal of Katrine Miere with immediate effect as CEO of Charlton Athletic
The Standard reported the club's cynical and dishonest statement that they were "determined" to work with the fans. A decent journalist would have taken the trouble to look into that, and would have found that it is just the sort of lie that has driven us to protest.
Well lads, we're all saved. They've set up a mailing list: [email protected] Just one more way in which you'll be ignored.
What next - a properly organised boycott of a home game. Realistically, this can only happen once we are mathematically relegated. Burnley on the last day of the season looks ideal - it will be the second consecutive season that another Club will have lifted the Championship on our pitch. A great opportunity with TV cameras there to really show those lovely shiny plastic red seats in all their glory. #BurnleyBoycott
...........and it would save the embarrassment of applauding the lap of honour. I'm serious. Can you imagine it?
I kind of mind this point on another thread; if Duchatelet (calling him Roland cheapens the debate) comes to the table what are we asking for? I believe we need to draft and publish a supporters charter - think Magna Carta or St Pauli's Fundamental Principles - which will be a short and simple set of requirements that Duchatelet and future owners sign up to so as to protect the heritage and culture of the club as a community asset; including for example the requirement for a British Director of Football in sole charge of players and staff recruitment and retention, and the protection of The Valley. If this was a legitimately drawn up Charlton Charter, signed by all season ticket holders and with reasonable football supporter expectations, then this would carry a lot of weight and I'm sure gain media interest as something that I believe has never been done in British football before. My suggested fundamental principles: 1. The role of Director of Football to be filled by a competent and suitably experienced British footballing professional; their remit to include overall responsibility for all player and staff recruitment and retention to a pre-agreed seasonal budget 2. The future and continuing preservation of The Valley 3. A pledge to ensure the utmost will be done to invest in and secure young local talent (linked to Murray's original pledge) Obviously this is reliant on Duchatelet getting something out of it - this would effectively be 'happy customers' returning in their droves and a pledge that hostilities will cease. This or something similar ought to be presented - backed by thousands of signatures - to the press under the guise of if Duchatlwlt signs on and honours the fundamental principles, the supporters will cease hostilities. Until such a time CARD would have free reign to continue to disrupt and agitate. It is important to remember that Charlton is big enough for both all of us and Duchatelet to get fat off; and without either of the two parties having to compromise too drastically. Anyone got CARD's number?
The only point I'd take issue with, Kish, is that if we got a manager like, say, thinking of a random name, shall we say... oh... Curbs!.. he would want control of the playing staff.
Against my better judgement I've contacted CARD on Twitter and got their email address; will let you know if I get a decent response.
I could live with that... I would suggest it would work as a sort of director on the board type thing; I guess like Barry Fry at Peterborough although that's probably a bad example! I'm just brainstorming at the moment...
