It's Meyler who's the missing link according to some on here. Amazing what you can spot on the radio these dayzz innit.. Allam OUT
Assuming you mean Gray he really isn't a one-chance-one-goal striker. He squanders a lot of chances. He's a very good forward at this level who is having a fine season but I can only assume you've barely seen him play and are making assumptions based on his goals tally.
Where did I say not to rate him on the goals he scores? I'm not saying I don't rate him, I'm saying he's a very good striker at this level but he isn't a one-chance-one-goal striker as AKCJ's suggested. He works hard and creates plenty of chances for himself, but he misses/squanders a number of chances. Anyone who has watched him even semi-regularly at Brentford/Burnley will vouch for that. In fact, he missed an absolute sitter at the KC even before being pulled off this season.
Let's have this right. Your suggesting it's not how many goals strikers actually score then, your saying its all about ratio to chances they convert that matters yes,not actual goals scored such as 20 goals from 31 as in Gray's stats so far with a Burnley?
No, I'm not suggesting that at all. I was simply telling AKCJ's that he didn't know what type of player Gray was. You've totally misunderstood.
Gray is a striker, brought in to score goals. He has 20 so far from 31. Be honest here,if Gray had stuck that lot in playing in our colours would this conversation be actually taking place ?
Andre Gray. Anyone with any knowledge of strikers in this division knew it would be the final piece in the jigsaw for us. Burnley signed him and my £10 at 14/1 is looking good. Instead of Gray we've got Diomande , you couldn't make it up could you. Cheers Assam , wise move .
I know, all I was saying was that Gray wasn't a striker who took every chance that comes his way, which was somehow construed as me saying I didn't rate him.
The difference between Burnley and us at the minute is clinical finishing. They are scoring from all over the pitch at the moment (not just the strikers) while we have really struggled for the last 5 or 6 games.
Really? Your first point is completely counter to the issues we've had lately. Going from Saturday to Tuesday Bruce has repeatedly used the same personnel before admitting that he should have made changes to freshen the team. That's been a huge criticism of mine that he has done it repeatedly expecting a different result.
They're a better team than us. They've not got a better squad than us (on paper we should be winning this league with ease) but as an all-round team, they're vastly superior. When we have players like Diame who are obviously class and have that bit of magic but jack it in if it's not their day, don't like the weather etc. they have Barton, Arfield and Jones etc. who fight tooth and nail every game for their team. That's the difference. Our only consistent performer this season is Dawson who's never really had a bad game since he joined. Aside from him, all of our best players like Diame, Huddlestone, Livermore, Hernandez and Robertson have a tendency to be cack in games now and again, especially when we need them at their best in games when a solid, no-nonsense performance is needed. Games like Rotherham and Preston away and more recently MK Dons and Birmingham we should be winning. Even three wins and a draw from those games mentioned would see us top of the league now. I'm thinking we need at least 7 or 8 points in our next four games or automatic promotion is out of the question.
