We have already offered too much money. He is a very good player, but
    1) He only is able to train every other day
    2) Has a dodgy knee
    3) Only has a year left on his contract.

Our owners are businessmen, and enough is enough. Yes, he would fit into our team very well, but not at any price. Time to pull the plug methinks, and sign him for free in a years time. Reckon it is time to look at loan options from the Premiership.

I don't know why we weren't in for Earnshaw. A natural goalscorer and movement is top class. Davies was a fool for not picking him.

I'd rather the Yak over Ebanks-Blake. The Yak needs to be more consistent though.

Out of interest - any names in particular?

It would be a shame if we couldn't get one on a permanent after all this, but you're probably right, it is probably the route we'll have to take now.

In fact £4m plus Waghorn is a **** offer. Why have we been pissing around for the last 2 months just to finish with that?! What a complete waste of time. It's not only going to be turned down it's also isolated one of our current strikers. I thought we really wanted Maynard but obviously not if we're not willing to pay more for him than for a central defender. It just doesn't make sense.

I've got a bad feeling that we've missed the boat and we're going to be desperately clutching at any Premiership cast off to come on loan. We said we had a wage cap - is that going to change now that we're getting desperate? Will we just bow to Yakubu's demands? I'm not so sure.

I can't see us getting Vela, I would have thought he'd either be in Wenger's plans or be wanted by a Premiership side.

We really need this striker otherwise we're going to have a **** strikeforce. I just dread the thought of Vassell playing week in week out considering what we've been linked with and what we could have gone in for.

And on another yet similar note, can somebody telll me why Routledge is going to Forest and not us again?!

    Getting a bit frustrated!

Dont throw your toys out, most teams would kill to see their board allowing millionjs of punds to be thrown around like confetti. I am sure LCFC will get someone.

Jesus, enjoy it, you clearly have good times ahead.

^ I agree with the above

Also ive been away from the virtual world for a week - so can i assume that we are no nearer to concluding the Maynard affair?

I cant be bothered reading back through all the posts - although i am aware Waggy has been thrown in!

So 12 months ago the offer we have made for Maynard would of had a value of 7M. But now it has a value of around 5.5M. I think this deal would suit them as they wouldnt need to replace Maynard and they would have 4M to get in some new players or to consolidate the finances

You seem to forget, we are not in the market of selling our best players.

To say we dont need the money is totally stupid, coz every club could do with a £4 million injection.

But it is safe to say, we do want the best money available and we can afford to hang out and keep the player if thats what happens.

I think the Waghorn offer depends on how much Bristol rate their current strikers. Waggy isnt a goalscorer but may be in a few more years. So if they feel one of Stead, Pitman and Clarkson will get them 15-20 goals then I think the Waghorn offer is great business for them

We was going to sign Tsepo Masilela and then Liverpool slashed Konchesky's price so we signed Konchesky. I hope not as Ched Evans is crap. I want either Maynard or Yakubu no one else. Its gone on so long i couldnt care which one we get aslong as we get one of them soon

    Emilio,

    Don't panic! Remember this:

"Why are you so desperate for him not to come? He's a good player, could get 20 goals, could help fire us to promotion. But you don't want him because he's taking too long to decide and you're panicking? Chill out, if you truly have faith in Sven than have faith in him to make the right decisions. He obviously has a number of targets, some are more of a priority than others. There's no point him going for his second choice if his first is still a possibility. Besides, I'm sure he's got his next move planned if he realises Maynard is a no go. I've got a feeling we'll just re-open negotiations with Yakubu if this one doesn't happen. And who else would you go for? Sorry but I can't think of too many great and realistic options. Most of the other names banded about are overrated or just plain average.

Lets not forget the Yak was messing us around a few weeks ago, we obviously wanted him but got fed up and left it for a while - in other words we moved onto another target which we had already identified. The method is still the same now.

And how does it effect the Routledge deal? He's a winger. Sven was obviously not that bothered about him, there's quite a bit of evidence to suggest that."

    Your words not mine!

The final bid to go in will be £4m and Waghorn.

It was posted last night but no one has mentioned it

Joby - if there's one thing you should no about me it's to expect mood swings aplenty! <laugh>

The pressures on and I'm feeling it - not sure if I could take it if we ballsed it up!

I stand by my point though, I don't understand why we've wasted this much time if that is our final offer. Surely Sven doesn't expect it to be accepted?

Tell you what give us 5.5 million plus Waghorn, and you can have Maynard, Nicky Hunt and Lee Johnson dont say fairer than that would ingress the strength of you squad in all 3 areas
