Clucas has got 6 from midfield so far - last time we went up Roko got 9 so Sam might not be far off come the end of the season
Problem I have with that, is how many chances Sam has spurned to get to his 6; he could and should have easily got double that! He's not clinical enough, and as an all round footballer not in the same league as Roko. Just a personal opinion.
Absolutely this! Yesterday, not for the first time, we look like a team devoid of ideas or plan b to unlock the opposition. Surely, SB can see that teams are coming to us and sitting back and simply replacing personnel for fresh legs isn't doing it (although Thudd didn't look fresh for the 30 mins he was on, he looked knacked!) A plan b, change the system up to give the opposition something different to think about is needed. Teams can defend our balls coming in from the wings all day long, 50/50 balls, which we rarely do anything with. This game and the Birmingham game, we should have had brought big Harry on, switched to 352, and pushed up getting the ball down, bringing Snodgrass in with ball at his feet running at Birmingham would have definitely given them something to fear. Something similar yesterday, give the opposition another worry rather than keep doing the same thing. Ps. Newbie poster, please be gentle with me, but so so frustrated yesterday, just had to post.
Welcome 'Howden'! I'll be gentle for one! It's all about opinions, and the reality is that someone somewhere will disagree with something you post, and react accordingly. Take the positive responses, and treat the others with a pinch of salt!
Welcome Howden Tigress. For me our problem seems to be our strikers are not performing. Bruce set the team up pretty much as was requested all over that I saw yesterday, he even did the subs that Rick thought was needed on Twitter. Akpom is proving to be a disappointment and you can see why he's not playing at Arsenal. Dio I can't decide on. Abel blows hot and cold. The players shouldn't need firing up by him for a game, they're footballers, living the dream ffs. I can't see any reason to think the players don't like or respect him, so for me, the players need to start playing like they can. Especially the strikers.
Whilst we still have to play Middlesboro it's in our hands! If we **** up this week, yes it's probably going to be play offs, but we still have it in our hands. When should something change regarding the manager. Yes, when it's too late, IMO. In your opinion, is there any point changing SB at this moment in the season? In fact anyone's opinion? If SB walked or the Allam's said that's it, who do you think would come in? It'd be Phelan! So now really isn't the Time to be saying we need a change! SB is in charge & will be until he goes or we get up probably the only guaranteed time I can right FACT!
I know Akpom has had his chances but recently not, also not much time alongside Abel H. I know they practice (allegedly) in training, but match conditions are different. We should keep them together for Forest otherwise how are they going to get any sort of chemistry together?
He does say that but in his four years here we've only really had two decent strikers and they've since left the club.
Brilliant first post. A plan B and tactical overhaul needed! We are too predictable and teams have worked us out, also they know Hernandez is our main threat so are working to snuff him out.
I think teams have figured out how to counter Abel and like Howden said we are crying out for another option
I've always found booing & jeering helps when trying to get the best out of people who are a little low on confidence especially when they also appear to have been abandoned by lady luck.
Teams have figured out how to counter a striker? Brilliant. They've all had chances to score, and missed, that's not because they were found out by the enemy, it's because they missed. When they shouldn't. They need to take their chances when they get them, or at least the majority of them, christ, at least some of them would do.
With other teams dipping into the loan market, can someone tell me why we aren't?. I don't think we've exhausted our loan quota and as Ive said before, with so much at stake the wages of a Lambert or Crouch must be worth the risk. Or does our glorious leader still think we have enough..?
Yep you could look at it that way too. Also lack of service from the middle of the park which I thought they were going to counter by putting Diame in the middle yesterday but..
They have had loads of time, it's March not August. An undisputed fact is that we lose two senior strikers and the first replacement in is a young kid who has been on loan at numerous teams at the level we would be playing at and not scored. another thing is look at the way most of the teams around us have strengthened by good quality signings since the turn of the year while we bring in a semi crocked Powell who needs games and a reserve goalie early ready to settle him in for next year.
At time's yesterday the only thing that was in the midfield for city was tumbleweed, still angry about it, Brighton and the Wednesday I can accept those setbacks as they are decent teams, if we cant unlock a league 1 team masquerading as a championship team then were ****ed, and on another issue SB needs to have a word with Mr Akpom he's a lucky lad to have stayed on the pitch ( from were I was sat it was a clear use of the elbow on the MKD defender).
