Just saw there that Abdelbaset al-Megrahi the man responsible for the Lockerbie bomb was seen yesterday attending a pro-Gaddafi rally, 2 years after his release from prison.

He was released back in August 2009 on compassionate grounds as it was said he had only 90 days to live due to prostate cancer.

Many had suspected that his release was some part of an oil deal between the British and the Libyans.

    What a disgrace

That's about the size of it. No doubt teflon Salmond will avoid all blame just like he's managed to get away with cosying up to the Murdoch clan for the past couple of years.

I was mortified to see him greeted openly by Gadaffi as a national hero, the man's a ****.

I can't believe more fuss isn't being made about this. It's pretty clear that no doctor could be that incompetent and this was a political decision.

And very well choreographed. Didn't realise they had so many saltire flags in Libya.

I totally agree but let's be honest it wasn't unexpected which is why the whole thing stinks. Did anyone really expect that they'd take him off the plane in Triploli and spirit him away into the night? I have never met Colonel gadaffi (though rather bizarrely I have attended meetings where his cousin has been present!) but he doesn't exactly strike me as the most trustworthy person when it comes to turning down publicity.

This is what happens when you do deals with people for oil. The dead don't matter one jot to the government.

In my opinion I really do think Megrahi was a scapegoat and wasn't invovled.

Nothing would surprise me although the reception he got on arrival back in Libya was an eye opener. The British Government couldn't care less about the victims of Lockerbie though. They said he was released because he was ill. Serial killers with a far smaller count than Locherbie never get out of jail but they want us to believe they released him on compasionate grounds? Load of balls.

It was the Scottish Justice Secretary who decided to release him, not the British Government <doh>

He was a puppet put up to face trial to save face. His release was because he had an appeal the termminal illness was the excuse for his release.
