We look to have gone for pace at the back. I don't think Koeman is convinced by any of our right backs or Yoshida.
Good result for Norwich and also for Leicester....so we should all cheer up. If Norwich can get a draw against City, should not be beyond the realms of possibility for us to get something from this game.
To be fair if Stoke don't play Crouch/Walters there isn't too much of a dependence on physical centre backs any way
Diouf is fairly hefty. Otherwise their forward players are quick and skillful which may have influenced selection.
Targett is aiming to be one of those 'played in every position' utility players squads used to have a decade or two ago. Mind you if someone suggested Bertrand would be starting in a CB position last season I would've rewarded them with a derisive snort.
Would have preferred a 3-5-2. Shaqiri loves to cut in onto his left foot, which will be a massive challenge for Targett, especially without Bertrand being in close attendance, as he is when we have 3 CBs. Martina v Arnautovic? Ouch. Not been confident all week, about this game. Even less so now but hoping and praying to be proved wrong.
I reckon one goal will settle it today. Usually low scoring dour games when we play Stoke. [Mane - 79th min.]
If nothing else I think this team selection as good as confirms we'll be looking for another CB this summer.
