But isn't that what they need? they're a shambles on the pitch and look totally disinterested so maybe a reality check might just work for you.

The dream team of Sherwood and Clark are available - that might seal their fate and save our bacon.

I said SOME managers in Bonitez's bracket don't take to it. That hardly includes Poyet and PDC, does it? O'Neill could have done a great job here - if we'd wanted to be left with a disillusioned owner and be left in Villa's position. Not comparable I think. Benitez might do a good job at Newcastle or he might finish up like Advocaat, So he's a risk to my mind. Just don't get Pearson - that's all I'm asking. He would really kick ass. He would worry me.

5 reasons why the fat spick will fail....

    1. He's Never Preformed Well At Small Clubs
Benitez has been sacked from Real Valladolid (2 wins in 23 games), sacked from Osasuna (1 win in 9 games), and quit Extremadura after seeing them relegated. It's true that these positions were a long time ago, but it's an alarming fact that Benitez has never seen been successful with a poor squad. Even his time at larger clubs has been less than smooth sailing. Since 2009, he's quit one job and been sacked from four!
    2. He's Not Used To This Level Of Incompetence
You can say what you like about Real Madrid, but their's no denying that they're consummate professionals. Talented, hard working, and experience - these are the sort of players Benitez is used to managing. Going from managing Ronaldo to the likes of Paul Dummett is as chalk and cheese as football gets. his squad couldn't pour piss out of a boot with instructions on the heel. Benitez can have the best tactics in the words, but they won't do him a lick of good when his squad couldn't pour piss out of a boot with instructions on the heel.
    3. He's A Poor Man-Manager
    Experienced? Yes.
    Accomplished? Yes.
    Motivational? Afraid not.

Right now Newcastle need a good kick up the arse, and it's difficult to see how they'll get that from a man with the personality of a paper cup. Rafa's poor man-management skills were constantly highlighted at Liverpool, Chelsea, and Real Madrid. Any team in the position that Newcastle are in need to be dragged out of the relegation zone kicking and screaming. It's hard to see how a man who looks like a Spanish Peter Kay will accomplish that.
    4. Newcastle's Defense Is Shocking
While the rest of Newcastle's team are honestly quite talented, their defense is utterly ****. Since the start of 2016, The Toon have only managed to keep one clean sheet. In the last six games, They've conceded 14 times - with five of those coming from an under-performing Chelsea.
It would be all too east to blame third-choice keeper Rob Elliot for this, but the lad is doing a sterling job, truth be told. The problem lies solely with the defense. It's hard to see how Benitez can stem the flow of goals, with the limited choice of players that he has. The ball-boy, kit-man, and tea lady may be needed to shore up the defense.
    5. They Are Up Against Sunderland
And that really doesn't bode well for Newcastle. Not only do Sunderland have a remarkable record of dragging themselves out of the **** ever season; but they've developed a nasty habit of trouncing their local rivals twice yearly. In fact, they've won the Tyne and Wear derby six times in a row now. With the Derby coming up shortly a loss of points could be devastating here for Newcastle. This is the true definition of a 'six-point game'.

Oddly enough two of them could be available as Poyet is reportedly unhappy in Greece.. Then you will have an experienced relegation fighting manager. Stranger things have happened and we are talking football and Ashley..

PS: cancel that as Benitez is in. It would have been interesting with one of those two in charge though.

If I was a Noocastle fan I wouldn't celebrate too soon as is has been revealed he has a get out clause in his three year contract that if he doesn't save then then he can go. Dosent fill me with confidence then that he genuinely expects to hang around long, I also noted on last night's news that when he left the ground he completely ignored the small group of waiting fans to get into his waiting vehicle, not going out of his way to endear him to his new fans.

If I`m honest I`d say he`s a very good signing for them.

If they`re honest they`ll say he`s better than they could have hoped for.

If we`re both honest we`ll say it remains to be seen whether he`ll be able to salvage anything with the squad he`s been handed.

And that`s the most important part.

Fair assessment. I fear its too late and I almost wish we signed Rafa as a CB but I'm so deleriously happy that the club has made an actual effort that I'm just going to live on that til the inevitable derby trouncing

Rightly so. Plenty of chat about how you`ll now win everything in sight and go rocketing up the league. A tad premature I think.

Some of them have gone way OTT <laugh>

I`m wondering whether Ashley has been forced into this as opposed to real ambition. When Pardew left he did nothing as there was points to play with. Carver screwed up and it very nearly backfired. McClaren came in, made a complete hash of things so now it`s the same situation again but without the points cushion.

Not sure whether it`s real ambition or simply no choice.

Just thinking out loud that`s all.

The clause at the end of the season is the biggest indicator. For example, we go down. We're manager-less, would the old MA go out and get us a champo manager? Will he **** he'll risk it and promote within. So if we go down (very likely) that will tell me whether he was just trying to make sure he got this year's TV money (10xmore likely) or whether there has actually been a change in MA's attitude to NUFC (close to the likelihood of me shagging Ariana Grande)
All I know is he must have spun a web of promises on future spend and structural change to benitez or they wouldn't have signed 3-years, it would surely have been some interim carp?

    Good point.

If you do stay up then obviously it`s a good investment.

If you go down the new lot could be gone (after only paying them for 10 weeks) and you get Beardsley on the cheap. We know how much Ashley likes cheap which was what got me thinking in the first place.

A true indication will be what he does after relegation. Of course it may not come to that.

It`s going to get interesting. All eyes on the mags for the next few weeks. I don`t suppose for one minute Ashley`s overlooked the advertising value of that either.<doh>

He was forced mate, his real ambition was for Pardew to do the business, then McClaren, now Rafa is a reaction rather than planned.

That`s what I was thinking. He`s shown absolutely none until he`s faced with a massive loss of revenue.

That`s not to say it isn`t a very shrewd move though. He`s given the fans a hell of a boost right at season ticket renewal time.

    How very convenient.
