There's a piece on Skelton in the Festival mag and he reckons Superb Story is his best bet of the week. Good luck Chelsea and all having a go at this double
Why so confident of that Chelsea. The race will have 26 runners. There are 24 ahead of him in the handicap with only the one engagement and a number of those with two will run in this. I hope he gets in if the punt is still alive after Saturday but you would have to say its odds against him getting a run. NB, pretty sure that two with single engagements will not line up.
The lowest rating to get in for the last three years 2015 = 134, 2014 = 132, 2013 = 132, Skelton will be godawful lucky not to get him in off 138!
When do we get final confirmation Stick, tomorrow? And there's 52 above him, I can see about 30-35 that won't be running in it. From what Skelton was saying to my mate a couple of weeks ago, and even from what he said during an interview as quoted in Chaninbars magazine he holds no fear of him not getting in, pricewise the same said he should get in and end up with about 5 below him.
Sadly not Chelsea. You will get the 5 day decs tomorrow which will give you a better idea but you wont get the final decs until Wednesday. Skelton may have had a ring round to see who is and who isn't running but trainers often don't tell each other that much. To give you some idea. Thirteen were scratched from the Coral yesterday who would have been in that race. If you get a similar defection rate then you have no chance of getting in! I don't think the French horse is coming over, Kalkir will be scratched and Rayvin Black is running tomorrow. I assume Skelton will pull Itsafreebie (who I like) and Irving is still running in the Kingwell (stolen joke) so that five I think we will be putting a line through! Crazy really because Skelton was obviously thinking he would get in easy. If I were making a book on it you would 4/7 not to get in but I really hope you do. If not, roll on Aintree!
Just have to see tomorrow mate, as you said we'll at least have a better idea lunchtime, Roll on affaire too!
Will do mate. Got given another horse earlier from one of my irish friends, ironically he gave me it 5 years ago and it finished 3rd in the champion bumper @ 33/1, text me earlier and said it's the 5 year anniversary and i've heard from good sources that it wins @ Cheltenham this year. It's run the last few years and hasn't done anything and he hasn't said anything to me. So yeh was pretty out the blue and random. Been quietly punted too, it's only 8/1 though
How do you rate Cantlow's chances in the silly race Stick? Really really like it's chances, just can't get away from it for some reason. And that's probably my main nap aside from the info ones.
Just written up the race for the Festival preview Chelsea and he is my selection. In great hands for the Cross Country and 20/1 smacks of a little bit of ew value. Be interesting to see if JP punts him!
Does look really good value. I'm finally feeling it this year again though feeling very confident, last few years haven't felt too confident and duly have come out of pocket last few years. It's spooky though, 5 years ago i went for all 4 days for the first time, won about 13 grand in the end over the 4 days all starting with a 50p e/w 7 horse acca on the first day, pretty much everything i touched turned to gold, even on the Thursday, picked Holmwood legend by the name and the ****er won at 33/1 , anyway in 2011 it was on the exact dates it is this year (15th tue, 16th wed, 17th thur, 18th fri)
Only going on the tuesday, wednesday & thursday this year though. Not really a fan of Gold Cup day, love it but just way too crowded
Of all the Mullins multiple entries he is probably the toughest one to be certain about which race he will end up in. My guess is the Neptune but its just a guess. Cant beat having a good feel about it. Lets hope the winners start tomorrow!
