A few bullet points from an 18 minute interview on saints player: - Still looking to bring in a couple of players... "definitely one" (so I presume one is about to be announced) - He was asked if it was the Tunisian defender, but he didn't directly answer (didn't say no either) - Chamberlain situation continues, he's training well, he's a Saints player and will play. Adkins said he could well be stood here in 3 years time fielding the exact same questions about Chamberlain - Cork looks like he's been at the club for years, a model pro. - De Ridder's first day of training, very bubbly character - The Billy Sharpe transfer was stopped because Adkins "didn't want to jeapordise the spirit we have here" - The team we play against Yeovil does not mean that will be the team we play against Leeds. - Spoke a bit about his time at Scunthorpe and how refs viewed them differently when they got up to the Championship - Puncheon is an ongoing situation, has attracted interest from other clubs, but offer has to be right. Puncheon is showing "respect" for the situation and training alright - The strikers are on fire in training. Guly is "gold" at the moment, Connolly looking great too. Rickie sharp and fit and happy Barnard signed a new deal
Maybe saying that the strikers are gold hints that we won't be bringing in another striker? Or MIGHT not, which is maybe why he said definitely one more transfer.
Well summed up CBK .. Wonder if QPR or West Ham will cough up a fair bit for Puncheon! (They're the lastest clubs after him)
Just a bit of a side point, assuming we sign a CB, do you think that will be the end of the transfer activity in terms of players joining? Adkins has said that De Ridder is a winger who can play up front, so maybe he is going to be used as the sort of 4th striking option, behind Barnard, Lambert and Connolly. I personally think that after the CB joins that will be us done, unless Chamberlain leaves, in which case we would obviously have to sign a replacement and who knows maybe try and bring in some extra quality with the funds we get for him.
That's exactly what Puncheon was - a winger who can play up front. So, De Ridder was probably lined up as a like for like replacement minus the attitude!
