He has to set out his vision as the owner. Develop the business plan which allows the club to hire the football staff to deliver his vision. As a starting point all the staff need to know what he envisages and it would be nice if we mere supporters did too.
I find it hard to believe that Ellis Short had nothing to do with what happened with the decision making. He has to be just as responsible as anyone else. He is, after all, the Owner of the Club.
I believe Ellis was given poor advice very early in his ownership of SAFC, concerning the Director of Football model being the answer to our problems. Unfortunately, he has taken a long time to clear his head and realise his mistake, however, he seems to have made the correct decision appointing Big Sam. Just hope it is not too late. Don't think we can complain too much about the amount of money he has spent on transfers but once again he either inherited players on huge wages or was led up the garden path by people in charge of negotiations, again hopefully with Sam at the helm, this will be addressed and players will be paid on merit, which allows us to pay good players top salaries whilst clearing out the chaff.
There has been sufficient written about him in the past to cover about everything we think about him except for his venture into the DoF model based on Udinese who are a similar club to us with a record for producing their own players whilst being relatively successful which possibly did not work because personnel rather than plan. One thing at least is that he was at the Soton game last week so he is relatively active within the club.
He's barely ever here, something that's pissed me off(Good to see him at the Soton game), he's based back in Texas at the moment with Kildare Partners Company. The CEO has been responsible of the running of the club. As far as Byrne is concerned the buck will have stopped with her as it's the job she was hired for. For all we know her job was on the line this season and in her mind she needed AJ and took a risk.
In fact there's a poster on here who knows some of Short's business associates but can't remember who it is? You there fella? Anybody remember who he is? He might be able to tell us the extent of his current involvement at the club but I've heard it's minimal
Mirror reckon Quinny is to take the CEO vacancy. Hope not. Love the bloke but he's a complete spanner with finances.
