It's not often we have a really good day, in fact it is as rare as a decent Match Thread from me. Be happy people. Today is a special day. KTF
Despite what everyone says this is a big appointment. The guy is a big name with pedigree and foreign connections. I'm super excited for the weekend. Use the momentum to squeak a draw out then wallop scumberland.
Chance now for you to go above those Mackem slobs, you just got to put them in their place, which is below you....................
I'm having a celebratory drink. Seriously. Bar the odd spark here and there, I've more or less hated the club I love for years. I only felt an affinity of sorts in the Championship with Hughton and even then I felt we were short changed on manager. I cannot remember feeling this way since SBR was involved. Then it was debating some tactics, dubious decisions, but always looking up, always looking forward. Since then it's been progressively worse. Looking down, not up, questioning owners, successions of managers, poor recruitment. We've had no idols, false or otherwise, and no ambition. As I said elsewhere this is a fcking massive day for the club. It's a massive signal of intent, it's a u-turn, it's an acceptance of mistakes and we had absolutely no right whatsoever to bring in someone of the calibre of Rafa Benitez. I'm happy, to my core, and more contented with this club than I've been in years and years.
I too feel for the first time in years that the club have made a statement of intent. Rafa won't accept being given players from YouTube etc. Our beloved stadium will find its soul and come alive again if the club give it something to shout about. Very happy day.
He's already brought in his whole team. I wonder. Ashley said that this next season he would consider selling. Is this his attempt to preserve his asset. Rafa will bring belief in the players and if we have a chance at survival this is it. This is the first time I can think that the club have actually done the right thing. Albeit it took a while. If he keeps us up which is a big if. We might just actually have something to look forward to next season. There is no way Rafa would risk his reputation on us if he didn't have certain demands. It's a good call because he is seeing this as his potential legacy. To build something from rock bottom. It's like a football manager game opportunity. We can only get better as a result. I'm going to bang the wife tonight because she has given up but as I'm smashing her back doors in I'm going to stick a picture of mclaren on her arsehole. Now give me some ****ing rep.
Today felt really good and for a change seeing the club l love all over the press and telly made me smile and feel proud, as opposed to the usual cringing embarrassment. Not going to do a downer, but just wish they had done this sooner. That my friends is my only regret from today.
I'm pissed up lovely right now. Had a poker night and took the pot.... Dished up Spanish tapas... Tomorrow. Well.. Maybe Indream Of stopping in the prem and getting my match day mojo back. 2 hours left of Rafa day.... More beers.
