I know there have been a few discussions before on who would be in Evan's 60% retention list at the end of the season. I read the article below it got me thinking about it again, so I thought I'd start a thread to keep all the thoughts together. I'm encouraged by what Evans says in the article about Phillips, and I really do think he will feature next season, especially if Bridcutt moves on, as I suspect he might. http://www.insidefutbol.com/2016/03...-addresses-kalvin-phillips-situation/275098/? To save you looking anything up, I'll list the squad here for reference: Goalies: Silvestri, Turnbull, Peacock-Farrell Defenders: Berardi, Coyle, Bellusci, Bamba, Cooper, Taylor, Wootton Midfield: Dallas, Diagouraga, Phillips, Cook, Botaka, Sloth, Murphy, Mowatt. Strikers: Wood, Doukara, Erwin, Antenucci. Loans out: Bianchi, Loans in: Carayol, Bridcutt, Adayemi. My thoughts of what will happen, rather than what I'd like to see happen (excluding sales), are as follows: In: Silvestri, Peacock-Farrell, Berardi, Coyle, Bellusci, Bamba, Cooper, Taylor, Dallas, Diagouraga, Phillips, Cook, Mowatt, Wood, Doukara 50/50: Turnbull, Wootton, Carayol. Out: Botaka, Sloth, Murphy, Bridcutt, Bianchi, Adayemi, Erwin, Antenucci. 15 out of 26 retained =57%. Am I too harsh? What do you think?
Didnt realise Bianchi was only out on loan. I'd keep him if we can, looked pretty good before his injury Could be that playmaker we need
Keep Erwin for now,big strong lad who will improve but will it be enough ? worth waiting to see IMO.And would keep Carayol as he brings something a bit different. Gives us nine squad places to fill, and 5 or 6 hopefully good enough.
Tend to agree about Erwin. There's something about him that excites me & could well be one for the future. The reason I think he's out really, is Evans remarks about him. He's certainly not on the favourites list. Carayol is a different case. He can't manage more than 60 mins, and even then he fades out of the game at times. Not the quickest at getting back, even when he does get round to it. Again, one with potential, but I don't think he'll have done enough to earn a sign-up by the end of the season. Jury's out, and I do believe he has an opportunity, but I suspect he'll fail to impress sufficiently.
I can't see anything good or promising about Erwin, I would move him on. On what happens, I guess it depends on Cellino and his thoughts on Evans, I believe Cellino is 50/50 about keeping the guy. I think we need to cash in on Mowatt and see what we can get for Murphy and Wootton if he isn't to be given a chance at CB. If Wottoon is adequate in the middle bye bye to Bamba. Personally, I would send all the loan players back. For me, I would trim back on all of WJ suggested 8 outgoing + Mowatt and spend big on a partner for Wood, a creative midfield playmaker and a quality CB
Interesting short article, pertinent to this thread in as much that not once did Evans say he wants Antenucci to stay. He's already blaming 'the club'. Hmmm .... http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/03/1...s-on-mirco-antenuccis-leeds-united-contract/?
Keep List Goalies: Silvestri, Peacock-Farrell Defenders: Berardi, Coyle, Bellusci, Taylor, Midfield: Dallas, Diagouraga, Phillips, Cook, Strikers: Wood, Doukara,
Well, looks like I got Adayemi wrong - Evans appears to have him on the 50/50 list .... http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/03/1...24-year-old-midfielder-has-a-future-at-leed/?
I like Adeyemi just don't think he's been managed very well, playing him up front the saying he wastes chances is hardly going to help him thrive NOT Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If this is a list of who we wish to keep as part of a team looking at promotion perhaps we should be asking which of our players would get into the Burnley , Boro, and other teams making up the top six. Cook, Coyle anybody else? Who sees Steve Evans as a top six coach?
Totally agree Forza, Somewhere along line Evans can't see past his nose as far as Bianchi is concerned, good midfield general with a "2 seconds ahead of every body else" head on his shoulders. Sloth should get his opportunity, we're still weak in midfield, Dallas and Bridcut are the only ones I'd keep, but not necessarily play every game. OH YEAH, bring back Adryan. Him behind Ant and Duke and we have a good spearhead of an attack.
Was that because Redders was in charge? May I point out that 6 of the original Cellino signings are still playing regularly.
Let's face facts, we have been a lower mid championship team for years now, no one in this team or squad is irreplaceable And we're no nearer challenging for even the playoffs. Let's face facts, we've been a lower mid championship team for years, not one player in the team or squad is irreplaceable.
No player is irreplaceable, but it's a coach's job to bring on players, inspire them, push them, teach them, iron out their faults and turn a piece of coal into a polished diamond, not the owner's. If your car ain't working properly cos you put second hand parts in it, are you going to blame Ford? When you have coach's who play their favourites all time, or players out of their natural positions then that coach is bringing detriment to team; O'Leary, Sgt Wilko and Don Revie didn't play their favourites, they played players to go out and win the game, the rest is history. Blaming Cellino all time ain't going to fix our problems, the coach is the one to fix the problems, he brings the players in, he coach's and trains'em and picks team, the responsibility is on his shoulders......
Who's blaming Cellino? You brought him up, I never mentioned him. I merely stating we need better players than we've got if we are to go for promotion. Given past league position it suggests none are above being replaced.
