Why the Hell would Benitez take the Toon job?

Discussion in 'The Premier League' started by Hoddle is a god, Mar 10, 2016.

  1. Depends on how it goes, Ern.

If the waiter gets 7 points out of his next 3 matches, I reckon the Toon will survive the drop. Then, the waiter will become a legend at St James' Park. He'll be up there with Shearer and Beardsley.

    He doesn't lose much face.

If he goes down then its McLaren's fault (rightly so), if they stay up then its down to him.

His family are still based on the Wirral too so he's closer to them.

    Good wage too.

Difficult task but a good challenge.

  3. I actually hope the waiter pulls it off.

It would be great to see the Toon finish above both 'Pool and Chelsea, next season.

  4. Do you think he'll stick around if they're relegated?

    I don't

  5. Look back at my earlier posts, Teddy. Apparently, he's got a clause that allows him to fcuk off if he fails to keep the Toon up.

What the hell has he been hired for?????

He'll keep them up and then do a Ranieri next season.

What's the reaction of your board to this appointment - hopeful?

  9. Not trying to put words in MHWR's mouth, but I would have thought that every Toon fan in the land will be dancing for joy at this news.

To be honest, probably too hopeful. It's been that long since we had any good news that people are latching onto this in the hope it will turn things around. Reality is that he will still be dealing with the same squad of players who have underachieved so far, and the same horrendous injury situation. While there is undoubtedly some talent in the squad there is also a hell of a lot of ****. Hopefully he can get some players playing better, but it will still be a struggle even if they do.

We'll probably come down to earth with a bump in the next two games - but at least we have this mid-season mini break from despair.

Is McLaren still on the board? Will Rafa have to report to him? has he even been sacked, rather than simply moved?
