Why the Hell would Benitez take the Toon job?

Discussion in 'The Premier League' started by Hoddle is a god, Mar 10, 2016.

  1. I'm sorry, but it simply doesn't make any sense!

Fine, if he keeps them up, but what if he doesn't? It's a massive risk he's taking with his own reputation.

And even if he does manage to keep them up, then what? He's still got the same junk players to try to shape into a side that, at best, is never going to be better than mid-table.

I simply cannot see what there is in it for him, apart from money. And, surely, he'd easily secure a job somewhere in the world that would pay him more than miserly Ashley?

Sorry, but I just cannot see it.

  2. Spaniard Benitez wants a three-year deal at St. James's Park and a break clause in his contract if he fails to keep Newcastle in the Premier League.
    (Daily Star)

So, in other words, Benitez wants to take a big chunk of cash, but with the freedom to fcuk off back to Spain in the event that the Toon go down?

How on Earth is any but the rankest of idiot Geordies going to view that as a good deal for the club? It beggars belief!

What the Toon need is a manager who is going to come in and fight for their club, both this season to try to keep them up, and over the next two of three seasons, should they end up back in the Championship with a fight on their hands to get back to the big-time once again.

They'd be better with someone like Rodgers or Moyes.

They'd be better off with Allardyce who knows how to keep clubs in the PL.

  9. This is good news for us, as the Toon have to play Leicester next, and I reckon that they are going to play with a new-found freedom and verve, to try to impress the new boss.

.... but not as good news as Pooch receiving the jinxed Manager Of The Month award just ahead of a trip to Villa who, otherwise, would not have had a cat in hells chance - but now, buoyed by the MOTM juju effect, componded by the Spuds ruthlessly exposed vulnerabilty from the Dortmund and NLD games, have every chance of a win at the weekend ... I'm going for a crafty 2-0 to the Villa with Gabby and Fat Jack Greasedish grabbing the goals in an unlikely win <whistle> ...

... elsewhere a big surprise as trusty, 'Honest John' Carver gets an interim role at the Toon during the time Rafa takes to slim down enough to fit into the Easyjet seat on the open end ticket that Ashlley has provided to get him over here <laugh>

If Villa play like Dortmund, you might be right.

  13. If it were the summer or early in the season I'd say it would be a great job to take depending on the Mike Ashley element / impact.

At this stage of the season and Newcastle's current predicament, I think it would be a bit silly. I really can't see Rafa sticking around if they do get relegated either.

  18. So, Rafa is confirmed at the new Toon boss.

The Toon Army now have someone else they can hate in 3 months' time.
