Did Gaston ever last long enough to get booed?!

Seriously, he did produce his fair share of sighing. But when we scored at Anfield this season, there were a lot of Saints fans delighted with his contribution. I always felt that we were frustrated by Gaston, but getting booed? If anything there seemed to be a lot of "go on, son" good will exuded from many around me when he appeared. The fact that many of us have been pleased to see him recovering some form with 'Boro is testament to our feelings about him.

Maya gets slaughtered more on forums, than the terraces, which is one saving grace.
I know he makes occasional mistakes, but he also gets blamed for other people's mistakes.
He's my guilty pleasure as a player I like. There, I've said it.

I worry that Targett is being lined up as the next whipping boy, as I've read on various forums comments querying his value. Plus, the massive, audible groan, when he mishit a right footed clearance, against Chelsea wouldn't have done much for his self confidence.
He has a terrific left foot delivery, and the whip he gets on his crosses is similar to Prowse, only he does it with a moving ball.
A couple of times, in recent games, he has hit some great, swerving balls, around the full back, into the channel, only to see the striker react too late, and lose the race to the ball.

The best news on that photo is the bit after the red block at the bottom.

He did have a couple of those against Sunderland, however he drew no criticism from me, just a chorus of "Graziano" when he got a bit attitude with one of their players :)

I thought he was ok that game.

Didn't see game but he certainly played big part in our goal.

As for Newcastle, gutted if they bring Rafa in, will make our game against them a hell of a lot more tougher.

Well , if he has signed a 3 year deal , he must have assurances from the board that he will have TOTAL control . Fair play to them , I never thought they would get him . .

But will they be able to get ahead of Sunderland? They are racking up a decent number of points.

Oh and Rafa and Big Sam hate each other as well.

To be fair, I think the automatic crowd reaction to a sliced clearance is a groan or some kind of panicked cry. Don't think people check to make sure it's a crowd favourite or not.
Mostly the crowd are reacting to events on the pitch, so if a pass goes astray we will make a collective groan. Because Victor has penchant for giving the ball away, he is probably at the receiving end of a few groans of discontent a match.

I guess the test is a the reaction a few seconds after a mistake. If a few continue to berate a player then they're probably not rated or having an overall poor match.

Basically, apart from a few idiots that any group includes, Saints fans are good eggs. For instance, we want Pelle to score for Saints of course, but most of us also want him to score for himself. I do feel for him. He looks genuinely happy for anyone who does score, but there must be a little part of him that dies inside (dramatically with arias because he is Italian).
