Are hyphens allowed? (Oxlade-Chamberlain would probably win outright) Have we had a player with a double barrelled name? Can`t recall one.
A difficult one. Which player has scored the most goals against one particular team? Not just in one game but overall.
In terms of wealth, I can't beat Billy's choice. Niall really did make a fortune, and went into property as well as breeding horses. In terms of lasting fame, I'd say Charles Buchan, whose Football Monthly is still a collectors' item (just search for it on ebay!). It was The Bible to us kids. Charlie joined Sunderland in 1908 and retired from the game in 1927. And yet nearly a century later very few football fans haven't heard of him.
I suspect that was Tom Watson as well. He won three league titles here, then went on to win two more at Liverpool.
Yes. He was at Sunderland from 1888 when James Allen took most of our players to form Sunderland Albion. He left for newly emerging Liverpool in Summer 1896. In between all the titles, he was League runner up once with us, and twice more with Liverpool. Also FA Cup runner up once with Liverpool (1914?). I wish we had him now!
Im learning this stuff. Still a novice. Been a decent thread and mostly kept on topic. Which is a rareity for one of mine.
Ryan Giggs. After he left Roker Park on the United team bus in January 1996, he went on to win 28 further honours, including 11 league titles.
