Imagine going in to work with all the stress and burden of being the boss, but none of the authority because everyone knows you're on borrowed time?

Just seen that Leicester have had 10 penalties this season! Double that of Watford who have been awarded second most, who have had 5.

    We've had 2 conceded 1.

Someone help me, I've been out of the loop for a few days & I've just logged back in to find lots of stories about Rafa taking over at Toon,,,,,,,,,,,,but strangely none about Steves sacking?
Ahh, just seen the yellow bar, still doesn't make sense, they have just dragged it out with buckets loads of indecision in typical toon fashion.
Good luck Rafa, you'll need it there in the mad house!

Yeah imagine the stress and burden of the seven figure pay off he will be getting.

I bet he is ****ting himself with worry over how he will pay his heating bill cos the weather is still a bit parky in mid March...

Money soothes a lot of things, but he will still feel crap. You are only as good as your last job and no one likes to fail.

Exactly. Of course the money helps, but he's human. He'll be crushed.

Can't believe he's surprised. He'll know quite well that he is an awfully bad manager - if I'm being kind, mid-Championship level at the very best. Hard to believe all those on here who either said he'd do well, or had a go at me for being negative for my views as above at the start of his reign. Some managers need to be given a chance before writing them off - this one was telegraphed a failure before he managed his first game. They picked the only manager that could possibly make them even worse. You simply cannot be that dour and inspire a team of football players - let alone a mercenary bunch such as that.

Am sure he's a nice chap, and maybe even was once a good coach, but a decent football manager? Absolutely not.

I agree about his managerial abilities, but don't completely destroy him. I am sure he is still a good coach. It is generally considered within football that he has always been a good coach and still is; he just can't manage a brown smelly thing. :)

Have to say that I thought he would do an OK job at Newcastle. I thought an experienced man could do well at a large club like Newcastle that was underperforming....think I overestimated his talent and underestimated the canker at the heart of the club. Newcastle at the worst should be lower mid-table every season....as should Aston Villa....but shows how staleness sets in. At the same time, teams coming up from the Championship (us included) are not the automatic relegation fodder they used to be.

We don't know, though, if he still is a good coach. Just got his short tenure at QPR to go by there, and would guess that there is a strong link between management and coaching in his current job. Am sure he'd have an input there, given the ship's sinking and he'd want to try anything to keep it afloat. I really think that it is as simple sometimes as judging how inspirational someone looks like they may be - and he is just from an old school that has run its course. Wish it was hard to believe that he was once given the job of managing England!

You can't not feel for someone who's gone through what he has at Newcastle, but at the same time, he simply should never have been put in that position in the first place. He came off the back of badly screwing up Derby's promotion credentials - why employ someone who's just bottled a job like that (whether or not he got them there in the first place)?!

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...re-easy-targets-for-the-boo-b/victor-wanyama/

Telegraph list a player for each team who is targeted by their own fans. Not done scientifically, but by merely asking one person per club. Victor is nominated as our boo boy....in the absence of Ramirez (was Gaston ever booed?). Saints fans don't boo like fans of some other teams, so I would say Victor has been subjected to heavy sighing rather than boos.

Someone's facourite striker elicited a few audible groans with each attempted flick on recently. Although he always gets a <ok> from the Northam.

Proves my point...that's about as vocally angry as we get. Booing should be reserved for players not doing their best....not for players trying their hardest, but just not good enough. Booing that sort of player is hardly going to make them play better.
