I stand corrected, I should have added 'recently'! Boro being 10 +years ago. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it
You mean like when I said Maloney would be a waste of a signing and always crocked? Or how about when I said Diomande would be a crap signing? That's more than twice.
Our best player is 32 and Maloney is one player I'd be more than happy for us to have in a Premier League squad. You were wrong when you said it, you're still wrong. Just as Randy Lerner didn't asset strip Villa and Nick Powell isn't an alcoholic.
Powell is or was, he may be over it now. I know that as fact so don't really care if you get your panties in a knot over it. Lerner asset stripping villa was ill informed but was an incorrect fact not incorrect opinion. I was not wrong when I said maloney would offer us nothing this season and would be a waste. My point in bringing these up was not necessarily to gloat, but to point out people see me say something these days and immediately call me names about it and insulting my intelligence. Someone lamented for the old me back, but the point is the old me would say something and not immediately be castigated as I am these days. When I said Benitez was likely going to Newcastle that was after having heard strong rumours, not pulling a name from my ass, and still I was ridiculed. This isn't a woe is me post, it's pointing out that occasionally I don't say daft things so immediately dismissing me in order to troll or wind me up is stupid.
BB came into football through Ken Houghton's City Youth, and made the best of his modest talents as a player, then massively overachieving in coaching. He got Fleet Street against him because he wasn't from M25 land and had never been part of the playing scene down there. Like Bobby Robson and Graham Taylor, the knives were sharper for a provincial oik than they ever will be for Roy H, Terry Venables, Hoddle, Sir Alf, Ron Greenwood etc His worst crime was using an umbrella on a rainy night at Wembley, apparently. All the best Steve.
FWIW, you were right Syd. And what's more, I said exactly the same from the start. No mystic meg powers needed, it was simply highly likely outcomes.
I think Newcastle will stay up now since Rafa will bring a defensive focus they've lacked, but it's going to be fascinating to see what Sunderland do. They're the ones in real trouble now. If/When Newcastle stay up, I can't ****ing wait for the PL next season and hope we're there with Benitez, Guardiola, Mourinho, Klopp and Conte managing in the league.
Honestly think if Benitez goes to Newcastle, they could finish Top 4, maybe even win the title next season. That's assuming teams like Derby and Boro bottle it again.
I have to say I think Maloney has been another pointless signing. I think he's a good player, but he simply hasn't had a look in. The money spent on Dusan, Diomande, Taylor, Maloney could have been better spent on a decent centre forward. There's about £3.0m in transfer fees, let alone wages. Which for the 4 @ £15k per week = £3m (rounded down) more than likely more. Circa £6.0m wasted, though probably more due to the low estimated salary Burnley signed a striker for £6.5m, he'd have been a better signing than the 4 players above.

Wow! Must be technically sophisticated clocks that automatically wind forward and backwards to cater for time being put forward and back in some locations to cover, for example, daylight saving.
