I'm telling you it's just been on Radio 5 - some journalist close to The CRAAS has tweeted he will be appointed before their game on Monday!!

I don't see anything whatsoever in Benitez that shows he'd be a good manager for a team in their predicament. They need someone to grab them by the scruff of the neck not dazzle them with diagrams.

"Do you know who Sam Allardyce is? Do you know how many trophies he has won? Well that’s my answer. His opinions holds no value" - Rafa

    This should be interesting.

I think it would be a very strange appointment if true...

    In 5 languages.

Benitez is a good manager. Nothing special imo but better than McClown (but then, so was Carver. He got them to the same position without spending £80m so he must be better). Not sure whether Rafa is the chap for their current predicament though.

He's a studious and intelligent manager prone to moments of buffoonery but I just don't see him being the guy to sort their **** out in a short space of time.

The buffoon thing makes him a good fit though I suppose.

Given the soap opera that is played out every week in the press that is NUFC...I am struggling to understand why any manager of any note would want to work for this regime. I totally understand big named managers seeing Newcastle as a prime job, but not while its owned by these clowns. With that in mind I would't be surprised if Nigel Pearson took over for the rest of the season.

Latest on BBC website is that he would be their preferred target if mclaren is sacked.

Cant imagine him wanting to go to any club outside of the top 6 though

According to Sky his representatives have stated that he'll take that job if it becomes available.

It could be a huge appointment for them if he comes in, a guy of his stature in a team that's ****ing drowning, could be a masterstroke or a complete disasterstroke.

For obvious reasons, I'd hope it's the former! I can't understand why he'd even give us a second thought though. He does lack relegation fight experience but he does have excellent PL pedigree. After this season, I think he'd be amazing for us. For this fight, I'm not sure... Fat Mike likes a gamble though.

I don't know why some people are highlighting your need for a firefighting type manager, yeah you're in the shizzle but you've not got a team of grafters who'd respond to a manager who would ask them all to dig deep. You've proven you've got enough in you to beat Spurs at White Hart Lane and to put 3 past United, beat Liverpool... a hammering to Bournemouth is more about confidence and instruction (and probably injuries) than ability. You need a coach and manager who will get your team firing on all cylinders going forward, that's your team's strength, we all know you can't defend for ****!
