....so what if Rafael Benitez is actually announced as Newcastle United Manager? His CV: Achievements: Italian Super Cup, with SCC Napoli in December 2014. Italian Cup, with SSC Napoli in May 2014. UEFA Europa League, with Chelsea FC on May 15, 2013. FIFA Club World Club Cup, in December 2010 with Inter Milan. Italian Super Cup, August 2010 with Inter Milan. Community Shield, with Liverpool FC in August 2006. FA CUP, with Liverpool FC on May 13, 2006 European Super Cup with Liverpool FC in August 2005. UEFA Champions League, with Liverpool FC on May 25, 2005. UEFA Cup with Valencia CF SAD on May 19, 2004. Premier League (La liga), with Valencia CF SAD in May 2004. Premier League (La liga), with Valencia CF SAD in May 2002 2000–2001 Tenerife 2001–2004 Valencia 2004–2010 Liverpool 2010 Internazionale 2012–2013 Chelsea 2013–2015 Napoli 2015–2016 Real Madrid 2016- Newcastle United?? Personally I'd be delighted. I don't think it's possible to aim higher or put in more of a statement of intent than Rafa. There is nobody attainable who is out of work with a more impressive history, there is nobody available who would give the club a shot in the arm - across its entire structure - than this guy. What about you?
I would love it, love it if Rafa came on board............................ but come on, seriously? Do you think Charnley has got what it takes to get a credible, respected manager 'over the line'. Not a ****ing chance. Plus if its true that he wants Carr pushed aside, its a bit like asking turkeys to vote for Christmas. Carr still holds a lot of power and he likes his mates around him................ not proper, bona-fide footballing people.
I would love it, just love it, if he came. My fear would be that it's been left too late and if by some miracle he did agree, there would be a clause allowing him to go if he cannot pull off a miracle and keep us up. Wouldn't it be truly awful, to have someone of his calibre and then lose him, together with the promise of what could have been. That said, if he by some miracle agreed to come, l for one would be over the moon. He is a class above us to be fair, but fingers very much crossed.
It would be some coup getting Rafa in at all, but when we are 2nd bottom of the league with 10 games to go it would be an outstanding achievement. I think they will **** it up badly though and we'll put out a statement on Saturday along the lines of "We are fully on board with what Steve is doing behind the scenes and he is the man to get us out of danger. Today Steve signed an eight year deal with the club". You know that kind of thing.
If McLaren is not the first of many to be culled from the club, then the next to leave should be the support en mass. Now l know we have had all this before, but l cannot support a team with blind loyalty that patently doesn't give a fcuk, bar one or two. Support the team, not the regime, they cry, well fcuk that, they don't deserve that kind of support and dedication. 52000 at every home match and thousands travelling all over hell and back to see overpaid pansies who can't be arsed to break sweat. Most of them are so fooking arrogant that they simply think. Okay we go down, l leave, get big contract some place else. My agent he sort it, no problem. They don't care, because they don't have to, the players like the board are never accountable and there is no price to pay for failure. Simples.
Like **** would he come here. We are a club riddled with a disease. We will end up with Pearson and relegation then the mass exodus starts. We are a joke.
Win - Win situation for both parties. Maybe it could happen - seen stranger and unexpected things happen at SJP.
With us nothing is out of the question. We could get Rafa or we could get Kinnear back. Neither would be a shock.
McLaaren stays, according to the BBC, that's a strong vote of confidence from the board, though the fact they'd all get fired along with him may go a long way into explaining why
The BBC harboured Saville so I wouldn't believe a word that Tory mouthpiece says. Worse than the sun ffs.
Bit harsh on the BBC Sport website journalists. Think they are just taking the story that he's taking training tomorrow and reading too much into it. He may well end up staying, but it's probably far from decided.
Exactly, if Rafa does come in I'll bare my arse outside Fenwick's Window and set up a page on here in support of Donald's election bid (apparently he's less popular than McClaren, Charnley and Ashley). Like him as a manager but how many relegation battles has he had, also he left Napoli for better not worse.
T'internet is awash with Rafa to NUFC statements and stories to be fair. Just how much of it is speculation and band wagon jumping remains to be seen. To be honest if it doesn't happen now and we stick with the Cheshire cat, then I'm not sure id want to be in Charnley's shoes. If he ****s this up and the inevitable happens and we get relegated Penfold will almost certainly be gone. I just cant see how he would survive.
I think we will get Rafa as he will see the potential that the club could have if its run correctly, also the fact he wants to come back to England helps! As for Carr, I wouldn't dump him, I'd put him back in to the position he originally had, a scout, he has on his day found us a couple of decent players....Cabaye, Sissoko(occasionally) Janmaat, Tiote(first 2 seasons) Mbemba,Perez etc.... Stick him back on the continent scouting, and if he finds what he thinks are good players leave Rafa have the final say on them. It's an old fashioned setup but it's what most top clubs do!!
