I agree it was bad luck for Accrington and you would have to be a heartless jobsworth to blow at that point (which makes me think he was already in the motion of looking at his watch and blowing his whistle), but on the other hand the defending team would moan if you added on time just because the opposition were attacking....I know we'd have been screaming.

Where's Tom when you need him? Pretty sure the rules state that whatever the ref does he's wrong

All ref's use the "minimum of" as an excuse for allowing attacks to continue beyond the annotated time, but where do you draw the line between blowing the whistle on time, irrespective of where the ball is, and allowing an unrelenting attack to continue, that ends in a goal, 30 seconds after the whistle should have been blown?
Maybe take a leaf out of rugby's book. When time is up, play until the ball goes dead.

Agreed. However, there appears to be an accepted form of time's up in football. It's when the goalkeeper punts the ball into neutral territory, or the ball is round about the midfield area. Other than that, a referee will generally wait until the ball goes dead. So either that game had massively overrun or the ref blew his whistle at a very bad time indeed. Anybody know how many minutes of injury time had been played?

Watching Real Madrid v Roma. Conclusion so far? Real Madrid are nowhere near the level of Barcelona. Defence is a little suspect while their build-up play is rather disjointed and frantic compared with the smoothness that Barca have!! If Real get anywhere near this season's final I would be amazed.

Not sure if anyone noticed the 3 injuries and a predictable result in the FA Cup tonight. Complete waste of time. Replays will be gone soon.

Real eased through against a very, very ordinary Roma, who are very good in the Italian League but quite average when up against a team from a better league. What has happened to Italian football? There was a time when Italian teams dominated and won the three trophies going in European football on at least one occasion. All I can see is a Spanish victory in the CL and EL, although the German representative will have something to say.

Good luck PSG tomorrow. Time to put the Chavs and their peasant followers in their place.

For us "Old Uns" on here, what a great result Benfica achieved in St Petersburg tonight. Anyone with a bit of romance in their soul would love this once great club to surprise everyone and win the CL. It is long overdue!!

I am not sure. Maybe he did! I'll just have to google it!! Still a great result though and that is the way to do it. 1-0 down on the night and level on aggregate... no more needs to be said!!

You can all have a good smirk on your faces taking the fun out of any Chelsea lovers at your place of work, eh!! Fareham is littered with so-called Chelsea supporters. Portsmouth as well.

No tears lost in that result if nothing more than for not seeing that thug Costa in the competition any longer.

Or any Chelsea thugs taking their aggressive behaviour around Europe and besmirching the name of English football. Let's hope Spurs fans behave themselves in Dortmund and enjoy being in one of Europe's iconic grounds.

One of the best things about away fixtures either at home or abroad is meeting other supporters. Whilst sworn enemies for 90 mins, you can enjoy a drink and banter before and after a game.

Although you hear less stories these days, thankfully, it is a shame that some people still go intent on causing trouble.

So, moving on tonight. Just back from the gym where I was chatting to an Everton ST holder. We agreed that we were United fans for the night. Two of the most loathed teams in the country. Which one do you loath least and so would prefer to see win this tie. Ideally I'd go for a brawl that saw both clubs banished to the Evo Stik league, but apparently I might be hoping for too much.
