They have a history of this, why should/would it have changed? When Pardew walked out there was no contingency. My theory is that Charnley really believes this is how it works in football and Mike simply trusts his judgement. When Mike then questions this, he's given the same story by Graham and, when things are really bad, relies on Keith fcking Bishop, a PR bloke with ZERO history in the game. We're trapped like this ad infinitum. There is no senior exec or serious football bloke (I mean, Bob Moncur?! Really? His fingers only on the pulse to check he's still alive). There's simply no-one to challenge/inform the owner how badly fcked everything it is. You can almost hear him saying "is 19th bad, then?"
This whole situation is truly unbelievable, l am no fan of McLaren and want to see him replaced, but you have to admit that this is no way to treat anyone, no matter how shocking his tenure has been. I cannot believe that they would expect him to train, coach and lead this team out at Leicester. He will be crucified. Even on the best of days this match has got loss written all over it. McLaren is totally untenable now, surely they can see that and cannot subject him to the vitriol that is surely a certainty if he is still manager come Monday's game. Quite frankly it's insulting that he supposedly still does not know his fate. Rumours of approaches, fooking approaches, are all over the place, surely they should have come out and backed him or sacked him long long before now. We and more importantly the players should know who is coming in to manage them. Its woeful incompetence bordering on criminal, l thought l had seen NUFC at its most embarrassingly ridiculous, but no, every time you think it cannot possibly get more farcical, they pull yet another whoopy cushion out of the hat. We are a total laughing stock, why for Christs sake can these people not make a bloody decision, on way or another.
In the corporate world, the only one Charnley/Ashley understand, it's actually quite nice to let an employee you like (but who isn't performing) stay employed for a little while. Like "hey, we like you, but this isn't really working. We don't want to march you offsite, though, plus we'd prefer someone doing A job rather than nobody, so would you be ok hanging about a bit while we sort something out?". Everybody in the World (except for 2 or 3) know normal working logic doesn't apply to football. It's not the same. It's not even difficult to work out - look at Man City as a great example of responsiveness to a dead man walking. If this is their thinking, then we encounter another flaw - the embarrassment of keeping him and making no statement except to cancel his press conference is cringeworthy and farcical. I am staggered and astonished that this is allowed - as it stands, I expect another legal suit against the club and I fully expect the LMA to eventually get involved. All Mike has to do is turn on a computer and spend a couple of hours reading. Literally that's it - cut through the bull and the vitriol and there's enough sound reasoning, advice and opinion to make this extremely easy.
Said before that Benitez should have been number 1 choice when you got mcclaren but I'm not sure he's the right choice now. He's a top class tactical manager, getting a team set up to get a job done... However that's not quite what you need in these last 10 games in my opinion. I don't think he has enough time to get the players working in a tactical sense to have a big impact in these last few games. I I actually think you need someone like sherwood for the rest of this season, someone to Come in put arm round shoulder and get the group up and motivated. If if you stay up, Benitez could be brilliant for you next season though.
"Hello Rafa............... would you be interested in becoming our manager? We can offer you absolutely no say on transfer policy, extremely limited funds, you will have to use the current backroom staff and its a grand a week, with a 50 quid bonus if you keep us up. Oh, and you must fit into 'The Structure'" Click...................beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep........... "Rafa, RAFA........................... ah well, cant say we didn't try.................!!" Oh we will have 'approached' him alright
Rolando, whilst l agree with everything you say, for me it's an even simpler scenario. Those around McLaren, are also responsible for Cabella, Thauvin, Mitrovic (to an extent ) who are all expensive failure. They are all sitting on their hands praying for a bloody miracle to happen. It's the only way that they can save both face and ultimately there jobs. Just think about it from their own personal points of view. They have collectively fooked up, time after time, and keep getting away with it. They have so much to lose if they get chucked off this particular gravy train. There is no accountability for some, for failure. They have always had a nice little scapegoat tied to a stake, waiting to be ripped apart. But the writing is starting to appear on th wall now for the likes of Charnley, Carr and Moncur. They don't care about NUFC, the city, it's fans or the enormous harm they are causing to this once great club. All they care about is themselves and the obscene amounts of money they get for incompetence.
Basically, Ashley has let them run amok without his control because he knew they would **** up. The fat controller now has the perfect excuse to clear out Charnley, Carr, Moncur and McClaren and bring back his mate Llambias.
I think everything hinges on the next manager. I mean everything. Relegation, the club's future, the fans, whether the club's direction is truly changing, and so on.
If anyone thought our club was a circus, soap opera etc before you can damn well be sure we are one now! The ineptitude shown makes me sick....this is a farce, just like it has been throughout the Ashley tenure! Any prospective manager, head coach or whatever they call the role should rightly tell the chump to shove his approach where the sun doesn't shine! As for McSchteeeevvvee!! what a prize wally he is, carrying on with his job as normal despite not speaking with the rest of 'the board' or the MD since Saturday to at least get an understanding of his position current or future....I'm sorry if there are rumors in the public arena that they are approaching others about your job Scheetve you need to grow a pair and some hair and demand to know what the **** is going on!! How can you ask your players to man up on game day when you have no spine yourself! It can't get any worse for the fan base......once again treated the biggest mugs in the country!!
Get a good manager and we can progress. Benitez will not work with Carr which can only be good. Keep McClaren and we are ****ed.
That's the issue though. The board will have to vote for Benitez, so Carr will effectively be voting himself out of a job, or at least a diminished role. Not going to happen in my opinion. I suspect its more smoke and mirrors from the club. I'm not sure that they will make a credible attempt to get anybody else. I fear we are stuck with Tufty.
It's now at the point where we can all watch and laugh as mclaren gets destroyed on Monday night to. It's all set for rain and a umbrella. I can't ****ing wait.
