From the BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35764007 Premier League clubs have agreed plans to cap away tickets at £30 for the next three seasons. The cost of watching football has been a hot topic of debate, with supporters at Liverpool organising a high-profile protest over proposed increases in season ticket prices. Now the top flight's 20 clubs have "unanimously agreed" that more should be done to help away fans. The £30 away ticket cap will be introduced from next season. In a statement, the Premier League said away fans were "essential for match atmosphere" and helped make the league unique. It also recognised that away fans often had travel costs to pay on top of the price of a match-day ticket. The Football Supporters' Federation (FSF) has long campaigned for cheaper tickets and wanted prices for away fans capped at £20. FSF director of communications Michael Brunskill welcomed Wednesday's announcement, calling it "good news for fan groups around the country". He added: "This shows that clubs will listen to reasonable, well articulated mass movements." Eight of 18 Premier League clubs who took part in the BBC's latest Price of Football study already offer away tickets for less than £30 for some matches. But the study, published in October, also found that nine clubs charge more than £30 for their cheapest away ticket. Finally some good news for the away support! Pity it can't be matched by some good news on the pitch!!
ironically our club have been spot on with this. I think the reciprocal agreement meant that we actually charged LESS than £30 to some fans. I still think £30 is steep. Should be more like £10 adults and £5 concessions. It costs a lot to travel away for me, what with giving Boris (the silver haired loon you met @ the Earl) his petrol money and all those cans I have to drink there and back. £15+ it costs for 24 cans these days... bloody liberty...
I don't think there is anything in there to stop clubs agreeing reciprocal agreements to charge less like we have done in the past. It might make it less likely to happen though.
Who thinks that those clubs who have charged less than £30.00 previously will now increase their ticket prices for away fans to £30.00.
I would have thought £25 about right but at least something has been achieved, watching SSN on this I was surprised at West Ham charging £70, way over the top particularly if you are from the North East, travel costs are steep and nothing cheap in London especially if you stay over night there.
Yeah any that do need a good kicking, if they don't then even more they need to be praised for not doing so.
Away tickets should be free. Generally have no more than 3000 fans travelling. Its less than one player for the week.
I don't think that's a bad idea. Ticket money is so insignificant these days compared to the TV money that it seems like greed charging what they do. They should at the least have a system where they work out how much it costs to travel to each game and pricing is set according to that with higher costs/further distance meaning the ticket price is reduced more than say a local derby.
