The Law Society don't require illegality. It's conduct that can bring the profession into disrepute. Dishonest behaviour, etc. It can include serious errors of judgement. It's happened before.
I don't see why. Not sure she's done anything illegal. All I can see she's guilty of is an error of judgement.
I was always warned about that when I did my LPC - That's why when you're dishing our legal advice to clients you have to make sure that it's correct. Any serious error can lead to you being disciplined by the Law Society.
Well at least Adam Johnson call tell the truth about something! Without a doubt, he's disclosed this information because she pulled out of being a witness.
None of us have any control over how the people charged with looking after the good name of our club act. Every club has the potential to be let down by people representing it, whether they are players, directors, staff or a minority of fans. God knows we've had more than our fair share at Newcastle over the years. This shouldn't be a stick to beat genuine fans with.
Thanks for clarifying Windy. Does that mean that the club itself could make a claim against her? Everybody could be suing everybody else here. Can't us fans make a claim for emotional distress?
I don't think the club would be able to make a claim against her. Not unless they themselves were sued or somehow punished by the FA leading to a major loss. The club could potentially be sued under vicariously liability [responsible for the actions of their employees.] It's like anything in tort though; the claimant needs to establish a duty of care based on the proximity of relationship and then prove that there was a breach of the duty which led to a quantifiable loss that isn't too remote [foreseeable.]. Most negligence claims fall at the first hurdle due to the lack of proximity.
Possibly, but you'd have to believe that nobody else at the club was informed. There's every chance she's been given a nice settlement in return for her silence.
Yet you must be astounded, as a Newcastle fan, that even with all of this ****storm that has tipped up in Sunderland these past few weeks, your club still appear to be the bigger joke. WTF is going on? Absolutely battered by Bournemouth at home and the lads get Monday off and McClaren is still employed! I know LVG hasn't exactly covered my club in glory and we're a bit of a ****up ourselves this season but you always seem to manage to beat everybody else to the top prize
I'm frankly appalled by this. Until the moment that there was an indication of guilt in a court of law (not, repeat not, in the press), Johnson was correctly presumed innocent and had every right to continue earning a living. So, in legal terms, Byrne was perfectly correct to lift the suspension and to allow him to do that. If she did make an error, it was in PR terms, with both the sponsors and with the victim's family. One thing I sincerely hope for is that the club doesn't replace her with another sh**ty 'football man'. Compare the money drained out of this club with the current league table. Please, please Ellis, not a 'football man' running the business side. Please, I beg.
So as I understand it AJ told her that he had been grooming and kissing an under age girl, but also told her he was going to plead innocent. Then she allows him to continue to represent the football club Not too sure what there is to be appalled about
