Geordie finishing school for girls........

The vile sack of **** will be shown again on bbc3 if anyone missed what these rants have been about.

 

You've got to remember that it's bbc3, which doesn't seem to follow the same rules as the rest of the bbc.

I reviewed a Channel 4 show the other day about four ignorant spoilt Brits who were sent to live in poverty in Gambia for a week. This one, Geordie Finishing School for Girls (BBC3), seems to be the same idea. Except that, as the title suggests, the four are all girls – posh ones, from London and the south. And instead of Gambia, they're off to Newcastle upon Tyne. It's not so different – once you get beyond tourist Newcastle, the regenerated quayside and the vibrant city centre, to places such as Byker or Walker; you might as well be in Africa. It's cheaper to get to, and you don't need jabs.

What an ignorant ****er...

 

That guardian prick must be getting sucked off by wheeze keyes... What a disgrace. It's borderline racism FFS

 

Hardly portraying Newcastle in a positive light are they? Not everyone in Newcastle is poor lol.

 

I'm watching the repeat now, it better be as scandalous as you all make it seem!

Some places in Newcastle are rough, a couple of my mates actually had a couple of pricks pull knifes out on them, but the bbc3 were portaying it as if they were walking around gangland Mexico!

The posh lasses weren't much better like, one of the lasses asked what pease pudd was made out of...

 

Christ, what the **** is "Huffty" on about, calling them brave. I've only been to Newcastle once but it didn't seem anything like the sort of place you'd have to be "brave" to go to!

Terrible tv. Not from the north east personally but I can see why you are so annoyed.

Just trying to make the north south divide look bigger than it actually is. It is as untrue to suggest that the four southern posh girls are any more the norm in the south than the poor Geordie girls are the norm in the north. If they wanted to show the difference between the haves and have nots they could have done this by moving the posh girls into an estate within ten miles of where they live.

Shows a total lack of respect to the people of the north east by choosing them as the place to do this, just as it would have been equally offensive anywhere else outside of the posh girls home city.

 

I'm not into slagging areas off, I hate snobs, but if someone from leafy Surrey slagged off Washington I wouldn't be too arsed because a lot of Surrey is, frankly, gorgeous and substantially better off as an area. What pisses me off more is the ignorance that comes out of London! The big smoke is one of the roughest places in Britain without doubt, South London is ****ing disgraceful and many parts of the capital in general boast crime and poverty levels in a different league to what we're used to up here. Even in the depths of Walker or Byker. One of my (typical) cockney loudmouth uncles constantly spouts off about how the north sponges off London and anywhere north of the Watford gap is rough as a badger's arsehole. Ironically, he's never left London in his life but the rest of our family who have, moved up here permanently.

 

I found it a disgrace. I for one am definitely complaining.

I'VE JUST SENT THE NOTE BELOW TO THE BBC:

Dear Sir/Madam,
I have to say I'm utterley disgusted with the content of the above programme aired last night. In a time when stereotypes are in the process of being dismantled across the board I was shocked to see that the BBC had produced such inaccurate drivel as 'The Geordie finishing school for girls'.
In short it portrayed the North East as a hotbed of deprivation and crime full of drug users and prostitutes. Conversely it portrayed the 'South' as affluent and full of attractive, rich ladies of leisure.
Given that the BBC is in the process of moving 'up North' I am dismayed that you seek to so blatently dismantle the goodwill you have built up over the years in this region by airing this programme.
One quick trip around Brixton and Hackney will, I'm sure show the parts of Newcastle you focussed on as being, by comparison like Beverley Hills!
I really would have expected more responsible broadcasting from the BBC given it is taxpayer funded indeed I am saddened to see that you are rapidly becoming the 'NEW CHANNEL 4' with features like this.

 

I've also just contacted OFCOM and stated that I thought it was bordering on racism.
That should get their attention.
