This quote made me giggle.. "Stoycee: What about Peter Taylor at Leicester. Spent the millions of pounds O'Neill made and spent it on players like Junior Lewis" There are a ton of names on the shortlist..
I havent seen the debate on the Beeb website but Tony Adams would take a lot of beating. He didnt inherit a ****e team. Or Chris Hutchings perhaps? Actually just had a look and Stuart Pearce is a good shout. Pre money days he spent his entire Man City budget on 1 player - Samaras - and then played him out of position on the left wing. How he keeps getting jobs is beyond me.
Glen Roeder wasn't any good. Dowie. To be honest the list of ****e ones is probably longer than the decent ones.
I'd be tempted to put Terry Venables in there, but of course the media fascination with him is such that he largely escapes lampooning.
Phew ! For a moment I thought some self- loathing buffoon was going to put Steve Bruce cos he sold Paul McShane or summat.
I thought the same thing to start off with, but, I can't be arsed to check, didn't he do really well at Palace? For overall I'd have to go with the Blackburn guy who took them down. Or Appleton! A little outside PL but John Barnes at Celtic was one of the worst managers ever, seen as I've gone out of the PL, I'll go with the worst manager ever, Mark Hateley!
Ramos at Spurs. The difference between him and managers like Reed, Hutchings, Lee was that he had a top 6 squad (as proven when Redknapp took over) as opposed to taking over a team that had an air of relegation inevitability. I'll always remember a quiz question at Hop Pole in 2008 after 8 games of the season Q - what have Spurs and a cocktail stick both got in common ? A - the both have 2 pts
Remi Garde at Villa has to be a contender, I would also be tempted to put McClaren in as well. He's doing a majestic job of ****ing up Newcastle.
I couldn't go past Paulo Di Canio. Holy Mother of Mercy, when it came to deficiencies as a Football Club Manager, he had them all and more. Brilliant player in his time but, (dare I say it) not a Football Club Managers @rsehole.
