gerrard got concussed @ bournmouth last saturday. his wife is having a baby anytime now so that may well be why his pre-season has been a mess. cardiff do look well stocked in defence so he may well be a bench warmer at the start.
Was in the same category as Bullard , but not quite as bad. Had a huge ego, thought he was better than he was and couldnt control himself. One of the best moves we made getting shut of him.
***an? he was released by City end of last season.. Parkin & ***an could actually work.. stranger things have happened.. I could see it.. they aren't that old.. I've never met him, some say he's a gobby so and so, but I'll always remember leaping off the sofa when he scored at Bolton..
Parkin and ***an did work for half a season in 06/07, until ***an left and then Parkin got **** and lazy.
Cardiff have got Earnshaw and Kenny Miller as their front two and are also interested in Goodwillie (as far as I know they agreed terms subject to him not getting sent down but have since signed Miller so they might have changed their mind). ***an if he's on trial will be as a winger, which is what he always was despite his delusions that he was a striker. His record at Colchester was pretty poor (off the top of my head I think it was about 1 in 5) and it was a signing that baffled me. We were almost up and he certainly wasn't a Championship standard striker (which is what it was claimed he was signed as). When we got him on the wing in the Championship he actually did better than most people credit him with, especially his crossing. If you take the other players off the pitch his crosses were very well placed in the area, and I know there's people now saying he hardly ever found one of our men with them so how can they be good. But I saw an interview with David Beckham, generally seen as one of the best crossers of the ball of his generation, and he said he never looked for a team mate with his crosses. He'd been brought up to cross the ball to the right areas and then it was the job of the other players to be in the right place to get on the end of them. It actually makes sense if you think about it, for speed of thought you just need to know where you are on the pitch and then put the ball where you want it. If you're looking for a man you're really looking for 3 or 4 and then working out which is the best option and the defender has more time to get a block in. In no way am I saying ***an was as good/consistent as Beckham, but a lot of his "**** crosses" that set fans off moaning were put into the right place but we had nobody trying to get on the end of them. EDIT: And was he actually on trial at Huddersfield? I was speaking to one of their fans before the game last week and he'd been to all the preseason games and had no idea what I was on about when I asked about ***an. Hadn't heard about him being on trial and said he definately hadn't been in any of the squads for the friendlies.
It was the Mirror that ran the ***an to Huddersfield story. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/tra...lowing-his-release-by-Hull-article756482.html
***ans passed it. That hip injury will also slow him down. Cardiff will only sign him up if he is cheap enough. imo.
