Benitez - yeah he's really going to go from Real Madrid to relegation scrappers in the premier league. Are any of them going to want to risk a relegation on their CV? Moyes & Rodgers - do they really want another failure to back up their previous ones (Moyes especially)? Is it too much of a risk for them? Do the rewards of keeping a big club in the PL outweigh the negatives?
He is indeed on the board, which would, I presume make him eligible to vote for his own dismissal. Come to think of it, the idiot probably would,
If you were in Wally's position would you vote to sack yourself, bearing in mind the compo that would follow, or 'walk' with nowt That doesn't sound like idiocy to me
It was tongue cheek mate. Hence the `` He knows fine well he`ll be rewarded if he gets the elbow. Might be the reason for his daft grin in the post match interviews after they`ve just been beaten (again) The one that so infuriates them. edit: afterthought. If he`s manager and board member, could he vote for his own dismissal as manager, then, as board member, be instrumental in recruiting his own replacement? If he`s sacked as a board member as well, is that two payoffs? Weird set up. Too convoluted for me.
I think they should keep him, but not as manager. He's never been a great manager, he's a coach and they need a manager. I think they should put him in charge of their recruitment, instead of that gimp who they all **** over who supposedly finds 'hidden gems'. Alan Carrs dad. McClaren's no manager but he knows his eggs from his soldiers.
I`ve no idea what his recruitment record is like tbh. I don`t recall many of his teams setting the world alight due to his signings. If the last window was anything to go by (desperate for defenders and none signed) I`m not sure how you reason that out.
I think it's naive to assume they never tried to sign any defenders and it was well documented that they wanted to sign a striker (Berahino). They were heavily linked with LB's such as the lad from Valencia, one from Atletico Madrid... January is a tough time to do business. He's never 'set the world alight' but he did a great job with M'Boro. He's a coach, some players will respond well to good coaching, like the class of 1999. Others need managers and real leaders, fortunately in 1999 we had both. Newcastle need a leader, as they have none on the pitch.
The only thing bothering me about this thread is someone coming on and telling us its bloody well happened!
