Not enough to make him fall though. Better to win by good form than by cheating because you won't get the opportunity for the latter too often.
I think we started POORLY. Palace had a clear game plan to surrender space to us and thats the only reason we looked like we were relatively bright in the opening period. We never threatened them once in first half. Palace just lumped it at adebayor who was out on the LW spot jumping with flanagan. In fact they scored and then sat back even more and it was really only when milner got sent off that we started to play. They were pish and should never have scored and we were so poor in actually getting any real chances.
Meh. Don't believe in luck personally. However, you could say that you make your own "luck". Palace didn't take advantage of the extra man, we pressed, attacked and created chances. Got ourselves into the position where we could capitalize on Palace's mistakes (Goalkeeper and that challenge) to win the game. Palace's fault for bottling it. Penalty was soft but within the rules of the game.
Buying contact, he did that well, but if that's a penalty now, then we are encouraging players to look for a touch & take it. Is that what we all want? Eyes of the world will be staring on Thursday, lets hope you are not on the receiving end of one of those decisions.
If we are on the end of those decisions, I'd be berating the defender who stupidly goes to ground in that situation. Prior to the penalty, you boys had possession and aimlessly launched it to mignolet. Blame the penalty all you want, you had plenty of opportunities to not **** it up.
Hardly the first one of them we've ever seen though is it, players have been 'looking for contact' for yonks. It was a daft challenge
But lets not celebrate it, lets not encourage the officials to think they are doing their jobs properly by giving them. Fans, players, officials, we can all help sometimes, but listening to some in the media I get the impression they are telling the players to get contact, get penalty, get result. Screw playing the game, lets just see who wins out of the five pens per game we are heading for. Stupid challenge, but he pulled out, no one would have moaned or even talked about it had it not been given.
"Not enough" So you admit their was contact and the contact is what the pen was given for. Cheers for clearing that up.
I want consistency from the refs, they are already **** enough People like you are going to ruin the game by putting the idea into their head that it's okay to slide in from behind a bit, and then leave it open to them to interpret how much a bit is.
Sometimes we do see 2 or 3 pens in a game, but maybe 2 out of 3 will be genuine claims. In any game we see shirt tugs, ridiculous claims for even a throw in or corner etc. And I agree, it's not good enough to say its just part of the 'modern game' and accept it as inevitable. Maybe yesterday, if Benteke hadn't been touched he may have pulled that ball back to an advancing red shirt, who knows? The lino saw contact and advised the ref accordingly.
Too much gets made of these incidents, sometimes it goes your way sometimes it doesn't. No need for all the fuss and talk of rule changes and replays, it's footy and it happens.
#bitterasfuck Surely it would have been more dubious if it was a no-contact dive outside the box? So he's just lying then.
Surely no one would be stupid enough to suggests they shouldn't get sent off because of who they are would they....?
Yeah but when it benefits Liverpool the media explode in #outrage We had weeks of moaning about the "offside" goal, then when Van Gaal openly admits deliberately abusing the rule he's called clever
