There has to be a line drawn for the sake of the law or else there are some who have posted on this topic who would appear to believe in the "old enough to bleed is old enough to breed" routine. Bearing in mind some girls start their periods at 10 or younger would you honeslty want your sister or daughter to be pumped by a randy footballer at that age?

The law has defined what the age of consent is and if it gets raised to 17 or 18 then the 'proceed' equation will move up accordingly. If we as a society think 16 is too young for a girl to have sex then our elected officials will need to use the democratic process to change the law.

What you are attracted to isn't governed by the law, if you fancy a 15 year old no judge is going to be able to tell you not to have a primeval urge but as members of a civilised society we are expeted not to give in to our urges if it breaks the law. Johnson might well have fancied the teenie but he should have know better and he will have some time at Her Majesty's pleasure to contemplate that.

The view he has expressed is that Johnson shouldn't be sentenced based on the crime that he has committed, but on the basis that he is a, "sick pervert" for being attracted to an "adolescent".

I argued that Johnson's sentence should be a lot shorter than the 8 years that a headmistresses got for 13 counts of abusing pupils at her school aged 13 and 14, including intercourse with a 13 year old.

JJS rejects this argument on the basis that they are the same, ie, sick perverts, and should be treated the same by the law, as should anyone who finds an adolescent physically attractive.
