All those things were known on the day of the match - as you say, it had happened before - so can't be the root cause of the tragedy. No, it was the irresponsibility of the police and the safety structures that caused it that day. That was at the heart of the day's events.
It would always happen when you had a situation where once inside you could decide which section you went in. On Bunkers you could move sideways so it wouldn't occur. The only problems would be people trying to force their way directly behind the goal. At Hillsborough tickets weren't issued for, each section so there was always the possibility of one section being overcrowded whilst others had room. And of course the one directly behind the goal is where this is where that is likely to happen. Ironically, the largest loss of life in a football stadium was in Moscow with a crowd of less than 15,000 in a stadium with a capacity of about 80,000. Like Ibrox it happened as people were leaving.Something which was covered up by the authorities there until the collapse of communism. The away team didn't even know anything had happened. There was a documentary about it on TV a couple of years ago.
No doubt Heysel was the fault of the police, the stadium authorities and everyone else but nothing to do with Liverpool fans.

During the 1970's and 1980's some (quite a lot) of football supporters were not very nice and polite. Many today are either too young to remember or have conveniently forgotten what we did.
narrow 'pods' of standing would be the way to go, maybe ten deep, that would stop the crushing which is always the danger.
Have you looked at what the safe standing areas, as in use in Germany, are like? It would appear not.
We need safe standing soon imo. The people that wanna stand can do so and vice versa. Then we can banish the bickering that surrounds it.
No it really isn't a danger. As I said before, music festivals have enormous crowds of people hundreds of rows deep and no one suggests that they should be made to sit down for fear of crushing.
I've seen plenty of people carried out of festivals and concerts because they've been crushed at the front, they're also generally on a level surface not on a steep incline with the effect of gravity
So standing should be banned at those events right? What if some football fans sneak in?! Chaos would ensue surely?
You obviously are clueless on what safe standing areas are like. "Pods" ten deep? What have steep inclines and gravity to do with anything? There is a chest high rail on every step. No change of a surge and safer than standing in seated areas where there is nothing to stop you going forward as the back of the seat in front is only knee high. There are more standing behind one goal at Borussia Dortmund than the KC holds in the whole stadium. They also have people walking around dispensing beer. Number of casualties so far? None. Just so you are aware of what a safe standing area is like here is a photograph. Have a look as it will help to stop you coming out with half-baked nonsense in future. please log in to view this image
