today just further confirmed the dearth of quality in our midfield. thought both the defence and the CFs played well (apart fromm moreno's rashness ) but the midfield was dire. no constructive passing ,no goal threat . little cover for the defence. wouldn't be surprised to see a whole new midfield next season
I agree...Flanno just got targeted...not his best game today. Like with Moreno neither get the support from midfield until it's too late and the CB has to do the midfielders work...
Pardews reaction to the penalty lol. Admits there was contact, but says it was harsh that Lino can give tha let last minute... And that palace wouldn't have got that (ignoring all the free kicks they got given). Because t being last minute makes a difference as to whether it's a pen or not Couldn't happen to a nicer chap
Milner and Hendo are supposed to be these "high energy" midfielders but they spend most of their time running around as they are passed by. They both try Gerrard type passes and rarely get it right. They both dwell on the ball like Can and slow the game down but as Jimmy points out they are old enough to know better....
These two are over over £250k a week between them, captain and VC and are supposedly the experienced/senior players of the squad.
Can was good today, I thought. Won a lot of 1v1s against a physical team, always available for a pass and stopped a lot of their dangerous looking counter attacks. I wasn't convinced by him at the start of the season but he's growing game by game and becoming a bigger influence on the team as the season goes on. He's definitely future captain material.
Since Klopp was appointed as manager Liverpool have come back from losing positions to take something from the game in 9 matches.
just realised all my post match games are fairly critical - justifiably imo however should point out i am delighted to see our reaction and desire to get back in the match . must admit did rather expect them to just feel sorry for themselves and ship another couple but no we ended up being the better team with 10 so
We looked better with 10 because it finally meant Palace thought about playing football instead of kick and run. 1st half all Palace did was either hoof it down the pitch or pass to Bolase to run 40-50yards, once they had the numerical advantage the changed how they were playing and that let us play football against them. Its what they've always done against us and its irritating that we still haven't worked out how they play and it took us going a player down to finally get to grips with there style. However we won and finished they game playing fairly well.
